YPT's 3-play sophomore season launches with the fabulously fun Junie B. Jones, the Musical (Oct 7-Nov 5). The Young People's Theatre of Chicago's (YPT) inaugural 3-Play 2022-23 season launches with the highly anticipated world premiere production of the science-themed musical, Peabody - A Musical Comedy for Intrepid Young Scientists. With a book by Emmy Award-winning Glen Berger (PBS' Arthur; FETCH! with Ruff Ruffman) and music and lyrics by Grammy-nominated Morgan Taylor (Gustafer Yellowgold), Peabody runs Oct 29 - Nov 20 at the Greenhouse Theater Center.

The Young People's Theatre of Chicago (YPT) is proud to announce its Chicago debut with a workshop reading of an original children's musical, Peabody, The Science Fair Affair on Monday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m., a live production of Mo Willems' Knuffle Bunny, a Cautionary Musical, December 2 -  19, and a live production of Peabody, The Science Fair Affair, February 3 - 27, 2022.

As part of its mission, YPT will commission and develop new works and offer educational opportunities for young people.

On Midsummer's Eve, two 35-year-olds drink alone in an Edinburgh dive bar. Helena, a well-dressed divorce lawyer, sips a £40 bottle of wine while waiting for her married lover to arrive. Bob, a petty criminal, waits for a colleague to transfer the keys of a stolen car. When Helena's date stands her up and she impulsively asks Bob to help her finish the wine, the stage is set for an unconventional, thoroughly Scottish romantic comedy by playwright David Greig, with a folk-pop score by indie singer-songwriter Gordon McIntyre. Despite its lack of fairies and forests, MIDSUMMER (A PLAY WITH SONGS) captures the wild freedom of its Shakespearean namesake and channels the Celtic knack for pairing dry, self-deprecating humor with poetic, poignant truths.
