Paul Butler

Michael Butler, famed producer of the musical Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, passed peacefully November 7, 2022 at the Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging in Reseda, CA.  He was born November 26, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois.

Seratones performed their single “Good Day” as part of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s #LateShowMeMusic series. Filmed at Skydeck in Nashville, TN and directed by Dylan Reyes, the performance features backing vocals by friends Devon Gilfillian, Kam Franklin (The Suffers) & Nicole Atkins. The new song from the Shreveport, Louisiana-based band – fronted by the gospel-trained powerhouse frontwoman and activist A.J. Haynes – follows previously released tracks “Good Day,” “Two of a Kind” and “Dark Matter.'' “Pleasure” continues Seratones’ unexpected fusion of disco-indebted vocals and buoyant synth rhythms.

LA based Latinx crooner, composer, psychonaut, and storyteller, Nick Pagan is a fast rising musician with an old soul. Pagan's sound is what he describes as 'new-wop,' encompassing lean songwriting, catchy hooks, colorful sonic palettes and classic sounds ripe to be sampled.

Regarding the single singer Paul Butler says, 'The song is a self-evaluation at a low point. Very much a different version of myself, someone I most probably couldn't relate to anymore. But a version that needed to happen.'

The world of Promenade Blue represents rebirth and reinvigoration as well as a clarity of purpose. It is vivid and magnetic, buoyed by both light and density due to Nick’s newfound collaboration with co-producer Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Devendra Banhart). 

The Dublin duo Elgin is completed with Anthony Furey and the pair came together having travelled the breadth of the globe as the acclaimed collective The Young Folk and now with Weightless / Still they continue their musical journey under the name Elgin.

The track features lower-than-low gospel chants and refrains by The Sensational Barnes Brothers, who lend both energy and emotional weight to Nick’s swaggering vocal stylings.

The Billie Holiday Theatre presents the premiere of the original theatrical film of its critically acclaimed work 12 Angry Men...and Women: The Weight of the Wait, filmed at Apple's Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California. Including select stories from the 2011 edition of the acclaimed 12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today by The New Press and edited by Gregory S. Parks and Matthew W. Hughey, the film recounts narratives of racial profiling and unjust policing, as well as an original story that focuses on the killing of Breonna Taylor. 

‘Cherry Picked’ is a beautiful atmospheric indie-folk track, which incorporates lush guitars and synths alongside a bold brass section and decadent vocal harmonies to create a vast and expansive sound.
