The Canadian Screen Awards honour outstanding achievement in the Canadian television, film and digital media industries and are administered by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Each year, the awards bring together, over the course of several award galas, more than 3000 craftspeople, producers, and decision-makers from across Canada to honour, celebrate and promote the talent and accomplishments of the Canadian film industry.

The National Theatre of the World is kicking off their first year as Soulpepper Artists in Residence with THE SCRIPT TEASE PROJECT, a week long engagement where they improv plays based on the first two pages of scripts written by famous playwrights. Made up of Matt Baram and Naomi Snieckus, The National Theatre of the World delights with their unique blend of improv, comedy and theatre coupled with current events and first rate audience engagement.

The 2nd Annual Hope Rising Benefit took plays this week at Roy Thomson Hall to benefit the Stephen Lewis AIDS Foundation, an organization that helps women and children with HIV/AIDS in Africa. Annie Lennox returned to Toronto for one night only to lend her gorgeous vocals to the cause, along with Canadian sensation Sarah McLachlan and African singer Angelique Kidjo. Hosted by Jian Ghomeshi, the very special evening was both heartbreaking and inspiring. BWW was on hand to capture photos from the event.
