New Jersey Theatre Alliance  is back with the Stages Festival, a state-wide spring festival of free and low-cost theatre events for all ages including performances, classes, workshops, and play readings. From readings of new plays to touring children's shows, participatory workshops to community discussions, the Stages Festival offers something for everyone.

BARD AT THE GATE – the digital theater series created by Paula Vogel and produced in concert with McCarter Theater Center – will continue its 3rd season with the debut of TENT REVIVAL by Majkin Holmquist, streaming via Broadway on Demand on January 30th at 7 p.m.

BARD AT THE GATE will launch its 3rd season on October 19 with the premiere of Laura Schellhardt’s play SHAPESHIFTER, with an opening night pre-show Zoom party hosted by the digital theater series’ creator, Paula Vogel at 7 pm, followed by a performance of the play online starting at 7:30 pm.

Four plays by women – including a solo work written and performed by U.S. Poet Laureate Joy Harjo – will be featured in the third season of BARD AT THE GATE, the digital theater streaming series created by Paula Vogel in 2020.

Mark Plesent, long-time Producing Artistic Director of Working Theater, the only theater in the country dedicated exclusively to telling the stories of working people, passed away on February 19, 2021 after a valiantly fought 4-year battle with cancer. He was 60. 

Adventure Theatre MTC channels snowflakes and cocoa with its next flash creation of new work for family audiences. Directed by the incredibly talented Nicole Marie Maneffa, Laley Lippard, and Nicole A. Watson, the Jingle in July script readings will be a free event on Facebook Live, July 26, 2020. Time TBD.

The New York Butoh Institute and Vangeline Theater present the New York Butoh Institute Festival 2018, a celebration of diversity in butoh featuring 16 artists from Japan, Brazil, Chile, UK, Israel, Italy, Germany, France, Costa Rica, Spain, and the United States. Washington National Opera (WNO) will present the world premiere of Approaching Ali tonight and Saturday, June 8-9, 2013 in the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Approaching Ali features music by composer D.J. Sparr and a libretto by Mark Campbell and Davis Miller, based on Miller's own autobiographical novella. This new work is the first hourlong opera created under the auspices of the American Opera Initiative, WNO's new commissioning program for contemporary American opera, and will be directed by Nicole Watson in her WNO debut.
