What did our critic think of THE WINTER'S TALE at Hartford Stage? The Winter's Tale, currently at Hartford Stage through May 7 and directed by Artistic Director Melia Bensussen, confronts an audience with a story difficult to believe from the start, whether or not one is a Shakespeare fan. Add to this Bensussen's vision, which includes problematic design elements and some unfortunate casting, and you have a version of the play that leaves us relatively unmoved. This is a shame, as The Winter's Tale is not often performed, and I was very eager to see it at this historically revered home for Shakespeare productions.

Music Theater Heritage Artistic Director Tim Scott has announced that film and television star Nathan Darrow will assume the role of Zach, the choreographer, in MTH’s summer production of A Chorus Line. 

Over its nearly sixty-year history, Hartford Stage has become synonymous with breathtaking productions of Shakespeare. Since its very first production, Othello in 1964, Connecticut audiences and beyond have traveled to downtown Hartford to experience world-class interpretations of The Bard's favorites and lesser-known works.

Luna Stage will present the World Premiere of Zachary Elkind's new adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard II Oct 20-Nov 13 on the MainStage. Streamlined to a fleet 90 minutes, the play features four actors playing 16 roles, and highlights the humor and urgency of this taut, intimate, heartbreakingly political tragedy.

DIAL M FOR MURDER brings some modern touches, and a sly intelligence to this adaption, commissioned by The Old Globe.  A smart script, skillful and subtle performances, and some twists bring a new life to this classic murder mystery through August 28th.  

 Nathan Darrow stars as Tony Wendice, the married man who is convinced that his wife had an affair, and as his jealousy and obsession escalate so does the danger in The Old Globe'sworld premiere adaption of DIAL M FOR MURDER - playing through August 28th.

Dial M for Murder is now playing at the Old Globe, set to open on July 28. The play, by Frederick Knott, was adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, and directed by Stafford Arima. Check out an exclusive first look at the production in these photos.

Shakespeare in Our Parks, producing in association with American Theater Group, will present Juliet & Her Romeo, an elegant abridgement of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Local artists Nathan Darrow and Susan Hyon have assembled a cast of three actors in their teens from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ who will collaborate with three experienced professionals.

Actors Theatre of Louisville will stream Block Association Project, April 20-May 1. Written by Michael Yates Crowley, the performance is directed by Michael Rau, and created by Wolf 359 as part of the 2021 Humana Festival of New American Plays.
