Michael Murphy is out as the president of Shea's Performing Arts Center. This comes after allegations earlier this year that Murphy created a 'toxic' work environment, and treated employees harshly. Fifteen staff members have left this year, allegedly due to this.

Shea's Performing Arts Center has announced that it will honor former President and CEO, Patrick Fagan, with The Michael Shea Lifetime Legacy Award at the annual 2022 Gala held on Friday, May 20. The award, only the second ever bestowed, will be presented to Fagan in recognition of his years of dedication and leadership as President of Shea's.

The Music of Disney on Broadway: A Live Concert at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre, celebrating the reopening of Shea’s Buffalo Theatre will treat audiences to the most-beloved hit songs from Disney’s Broadway shows – including “Beauty and the Beast,” “A Whole New World,” “Circle of Life” and “Let it Go”.

Three national tours will launch from Shea’s Buffalo Theatre part of the M&T Bank Broadway Series: Frozen, Tootsie, and Harper Lee’s To Kill A Mockingbird - resulting in more than a $25 million dollar economic impact on the Western New York community.

Shea's Performing Arts Center and the Buffalo Police Department have announced their collaboration to bring body workshops for all new police recruit classes. This program has garnered national attention for its innovation and premiere community engagement and has been featured in The New York State Chief's Chronicle March 2021 issue.

​​​​​​​Shea's Performing Arts Center and Lipke Foundation announced today that the 2021 Kenny Awards program will be completely virtual and will spotlight student artistry with three award categories for individual students. There will be no adjudication of high school musical theatre productions and schools will not be eligible for awards, but teachers and directors may nominate multiple students from their theatre programs. These temporary changes will only affect the 2020-2021 season.
