Glen Hansard is sharing the compelling new song “Sure As The Rain,” a musical love letter to his wife and the mother of his nearly one year old son. The song features Via Mardot on theremin, whom Hansard contacted after seeing a series of her performances online. Check out upcoming tour dates!

It will mark the singer songwriters first record in over four years and follows a period that found Hansard moving between collaborative work with Eddie Vedder and Cat Power to live performances with The Frames and Markéta Irglová/The Swell Season. The effect of which helped give direction to ‘All That Was East Is West Of Me Now.'

Irglova’s inclusion was natural on a number of levels for Hansard as he was aware her parents back in her native Czech Republic had taken in multiple families from Ukraine. Once in awhile a musical comes along that strikes the right chord. Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech pianist Marketa Irglova collaborated on a stage version of the 2007 film by John Carney. This deceptively simple story won a Tony Award for Best Book by Enda Walsh along with 7 more wins out of 11 Tony nominations in 2012, including Best Musical, Best Orchestration, and Best Direction. Its most familiar song, 'Falling Slowly,' won an Academy Award and the cast album captured a Grammy.

Immediately upon entering the theater, you'll realize Once isn't going to be your typical musical theatre fare.

It's rare that a tale of unrequited love is experienced as sweet and uplifting. The Seacoast Repertory Theatre's newest production, Once, is that tale.

Once, the musical that broke new ground on Broadway, will begin rehearsals in Fort Myers on August 6, 2019.  Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards including Best Musical and winner of the 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, ONCE is a truly original Broadway experience. The musical is based on the 2007 Academy Award-winning film of the same name which was written and directed by John Carney, and starred Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, with original music and lyrics by Mr. Hansard and Ms. Irglova.
