BWW Review: HONK! at Delaware Theatre Company


HONK! Is a musical adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson story of "The Ugly Duckling". It embodies a message of tolerance and bullying…and as Director Bud Martin suggests in his program notes…'the discourse in our country today is full of bullying, name-calling, racism and anti-immigration". Delaware Theatre Company Announces Cast Of HONK


Delaware Theatre Company proudly presents the Olivier Award winning musical Honk! with music by George Stiles and book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe, directed by Bud Martin. This family friendly musical, adapted from Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling runs April 17 - May 12, 2019. The cast features Barrymore Award winner Kim Carson, Maria Konstantinidis, Rachel Brennan, Jenna Pastuszek, Jake Blouch, Christopher Sapienza, Newton Buchanan, Sean O'Neill, Camiel Warren-Taylor, Jojo Schlecht, and Charlotte Taylor. Adam Hoyak plays Ugly, the famous duckling.

EgoPo Classic Theater Brings a South African Twist to THREE SISTERS, TWO


In this dark comedy, Reza de Wet weaves together a collection of Chekhov's iconic characters into a single musing on the end of a world. On February 1, EgoPo Classic Theater presents this great South African playwright's take on Anton Chekhov's classic, twenty years later, during the fall the privileged society. Three Sisters Two previews January 30-31 and opens Friday, February 1. The show runs three weeks, closing Feb. 17.

On March 31, EgoPo presents Anna, a World Premiere adaptation of Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Playwright and Director Brenna Geffers brings literature's greatest heroine to new life with the help of a wandering theater troupe armed with a collection of rickety antiques and instruments. They perform the story, set in the shifting landscape of Imperial Russia, to seek refuge from their own unsettling world. You are invited on their journey, and Anna's, as they travel together toward the story's unavoidable end. Anna previews March 29-30 and opens Friday, March 31. The show runs three weeks, closing on Sunday, April 16. Tickets start at $25. Performances are at the Latvian Society Theater on 7th and Spring Garden.

Shakespeare in Clark Park's THE TWO GENTLEMAN OF VERONA to Run 7/27-31


Smitten lovers, Crab the Dog and swing dancers collide in this year's Shakespeare in Clark Park (SCP) production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. The classic romantic comedy is being brought to life by Kathryn MacMillan (Lantern Theater Company) and will once again showcase SCP's unique blend of classic storytelling and community engagement. The Two Gentlemen of Verona opens under the stars in 'the Bowl' of Clark Park on July 27 and runs through July 31. All performances are at 7 p.m.
