The Nebraska Thespian Society held its 2020 festival this past weekend at the Holland Performing Arts Center and the Double Tree Omaha. Nebraska Thespians is one of the chapters of the Educational Theatre Association which sponsors the International Thespian Society.

The Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP) held its annual Awards Night celebration on Monday, July 1  to honor those who volunteered as cast and crew in the 201819 season. 

Sometimes a story leaves you disappointed. Or disillusioned. So you take a second look. You read the novella. You watch the film. You return to the Omaha Community Playhouse for another performance of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. And you see it with fresh eyes and a new perspective.

The Bridges of Madison County will open Friday, March 1 at the Omaha Community Playhouse (OCP). The show will run in the Hawks Mainstage Theatre from March 1 through March 24. Performances will be held Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Omaha Community Playhouse is trying something that hasn't been done in awhile. They have cast two sets of leads in the upcoming Jason Robert Brown musical, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY. This production is not only unique in its double casting, it's based in our neighboring state, Iowa. Here is a story that's near and dear to our hearts. But how will the Playhouse manage two Francescas and two Roberts? I spoke with the director, Kimberly Faith Hickman, and the leads, Angela Jenson Frey and Thomas Gjere, and Mackenzie Dehmer and James Verderamo to get their take on the process.

Sarah Gibson, Mallory Vallier, and Ashley Laverty created a new one-night cabaret featuring favorite show tunes with a twist... or should I say a 'bend?' MISTER AND MISSCAST: A GENDER BENDING MUSICAL THEATRE CABARET, a clever name for a clever show, featured the genders mixing it up. Men performed songs typically sung by women and vice versa. The result was a colorful concoction that was fresh and fun.
