The Factory Theater concludes its 26th season with Prophet$, June 7 - July 20, written by Factory Theater Ensemble Member Anthony Tournis and directed by Factory Theater Ensemble Member Wm. Bullion, at the Factory Theater, 1623 W. Howard St., Chicago. Rivendell Theatre Ensemble's (RTE) Artistic Director Tara Mallen is proud to announce Rivendell Theatre Ensemble's 18th season. Chicago's only producing company dedicated to women's voices features three original American plays during their 2013-14 season named 'Stirring the Pot.' Rivendell chose three provocative, contemporary stories that 'stir the pot' and unflinchingly expose challenging issues and instigate vital dialogues on some of the relevant issues facing women today: women in the military, racial tensions at work and negative body image in women. The season begins with Women at War, Thursday, Nov. 21. This Public Workshop Performance at UIC School of Theatre & Music, 1040 W. Harrison Ave., has been developed as part of Rivendell's annual Fresh Produce new play development series and is directed by RTE ensemble member Megan Carney with producing partner 'VetCAT'. The season continues with Rasheeda Speaking by Chicago's critically acclaimed Joel Drake Johnson, directed by Sandy Shinner, January 18 - February 16, 2014, and concludes with the Midwest premiere of Eat Your Heart Out by Courtney Baron, directed by Hallie Gordon, artistic director of Steppenwolf Young Adults Program, May 31 - June 28, 2014. Steep Theatre Company's Twelfth Season will begin tonight, October 4th, with their production of Robert Holman's Making Noise Quietly. Mr. Holman's body of work has served as an inspiration to many of today's most exciting playwrights, including Steep favorites Simon Stephens (Harper Regan, Pornography) and David Eldridge (Festen, Under the Blue Sky). Steep brings Mr. Holman's seminal work, Making Noise Quietly, to the Chicago stage for the first time in 23 years. Erica Weiss, Associate Artistic Director of Route 66 Theatre Company and director of their 2011 hit Twist of Water, will be making her Steep directing debut.
