'This play is not about my mother and me,' begins the character of Lisa. But, of course, it is about her mother, and her mother's extraordinary ability to heal a changing neighborhood despite her inability to heal herself.

Author Lisa Kron is known for her one-woman shows. I am known for having issues with one-person shows, as they tend to be someone else's therapy on stage. Luckily Kron also understands that issue as she very self referentially mocks those kinds of shows in her play "Well", currently at the Seattle Rep, as she deconstructs shows like this and really all shows with her hilarious exploration that has "nothing to do with her relationship with her Mother!"

Monday February 27, THE COLUMN AWARDS (TCA) organization honored excellence in theater within the Dallas-Fort Worth Theater community, which held its 13th annual gala this past Monday. TCA is the only awards organization in the United States that donates all money (after expenses) to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS. A charity they have been associated since its inception. To date, THE COLUMN AWARDS have donated close to $70.000.00 to BC/EFA. See the full list of winners below.

The Strand Theater 2011 - 2012 Season begins with Anna Bella Eema

Artistic Director, Jayme Kilburn, has announced the lineup for the Station North Arts & Entertainment District-based Strand Theater's upcoming fourth season.

The Strand Theater is seeking two dynamic directors for the 2011-2012 season (descriptions of the plays appear below). Directors are responsible for the vision and execution of the production. Directors must be able to work independently (at times) and with designers, playwrights, and Strand staff as needed.
