Photo Coverage: Inside Opening Night of SOUTH PACIFIC at Westchester Broadway Theatre

Rodgers and Hammerstein's award-winning South Pacific is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener. The musical is set on an island paradise during World War II and tells two parallel love stories against the dangers of prejudice and war and the importance of valuing diversity. Its portrayal of Americans stationed in an alien culture in wartime is as relevant today as when it first thrilled audiences in 1949. Playing at Westchester Broadway Theatre through January 25, 2015, you can check out photos from opening night below!

BWW Reviews: Village's FUNNY GIRL Brings the Sweet and Funny Plus the Power

OK let me start off by saying, Babs she ain't and thank God for that. OK, now before you all form the lynch mob, I love Babs. But if anyone is going to even attempt to put on "Funny Girl" the worst thing they could do it try to pass off an imitation of an icon. And Sarah Rose Davis in Village's current production manages to pull off carrying the show with aplomb while still putting her own stamp on the role.

BWW Reviews: 5th Avenue Theatre’s RENT Loses Its Edge

Is it possible that "Rent", Jonathan Larson's groundbreaking hit from 1996 has now become so dated that it no longer has the edge it once had? Or is it that the current production from the 5th Avenue Theatre is so desperately trying to be edgy that it shows its weakness? That is the question before us. But whatever you feel about the show itself, the current production at the 5th takes so many missteps that it's hard to see the show as anything but an adorable relic.

JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT at the 5th Avenue

Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre is presenting the 2nd production in their season, Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" starring American Idol Finalist Anthony Fedorov in the title role. Now there are those that say this show is overdone and nothing really new or fresh can be done with it. I was one of those people. To them (and to myself) I say, "Then you haven't seen the production at the 5th Avenue yet."
