Based on real events, THE PROM tells the story of a high schooler who wants to take her girlfriend to the prom. When the school board, PTA, and homophobic parents say no, a group of Broadway stars step in to give Emma and her date the prom of their dreams. Lyric's summer production runs through July 16th at the Civic Center Music Hall.

Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma presents a dazzling spectacle on the Civic Center stage. The second of their three summer musicals, CAROUSEL is a beautiful musical, complete with epic dance numbers and opera-level singing. The orchestra onstage adds to the romantic quality of this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic.

11th Hour Theatre Company brings its consistently sold out concert series back home and as the series begins its 2018-2019 season it has grown. 11th Hour's Next Step Concert Series is now set to run over two weekends. They begin their season with a concert performance of Grey Gardens. Grey Gardens features Music by Scott Frankel, Lyrics by Michael Korie and a Book by Doug Wright. 11th Hour Theatre Company Associate Artistic Director and Co-Founder Steve Pacek directs.  Amanda Morton is the Music Director. Grey Gardens runs October 6-14. A DOG STORY is that rare musical comedy that manages to be sweet but not cloying, accessible but not banal, and light but not unsubstantial. With most of the city still in deep mourning over the election (and facing a logistical nightmare in Midtown for the next four years), this new musical--with a strong book by Eric H. Weinberger and excellent lyrics and music by Gayla D. Morgan-could not have come at a more perfect time. The show was an extended-release happy pill, after which you felt-if only for an hour or two-that everything will somehow be okay.
