The Marvelous Wonderettes return to TexARTS in an all new show! It's 1969, and The Marvelous Wonderettes are back at Springfield High to throw a retirement party for their favorite teacher. As the girls sing their way through the greatest girl-group hits of the '60s and bid Ms. McPherson a fond farewell, one of the Wonderettes reveals she'll also be saying goodbye to search for success and happiness on her own.

TexARTS is getting ready to boogie on down memory lane with The Wonderettes as they sing and dance to the biggest hits of the '60s and '70s. The Wonderettes take the TexARTS Kam and James Morris Stage this February.

The TexARTS Professional Series presents The Marvelous Wonderettes: Dream On written and created by Roger Bean and vocal and musical arrangements by Michael Borth. Performances will take place February 14 - March 1, 2020 at the Kam & James Morris Theatre in Lakeway.

This December, Gallery Players will present the third production of its 53rd season, Little Women: The Broadway Musical; book by Allan Knee; music by Jason Howland; lyrics by Mindi Dickstein; based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott.

Considered by many to be one of the top country artists of all time, Patsy Cline was a pioneer for women in country music and as a crossover artist. Her story is one of personal struggle and determination, overcoming obstacles from poverty to a devastating car accident; but none of that comes to mind when thinking of this country music legend. What does is her tough as nails resolve, smiling face, and emotionally charged voice that has sold millions of records and is one of the reasons most country artists count her as a major influence.

This smash off-Broadway hit takes you to the 1958 Springfield High School prom where we meet 'The Marvelous Wonderettes', four girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts! As we learn about their lives and loves, the girls serenade us with classic '50s hits including 'Lollipop,' 'Dream Lover,' 'Stupid Cupid,' and 'Lipstick on Your Collar.'  In act two, the Wonderettes reunite to take the stage and perform at their ten-year reunion.

LITTLE WOMEN is a musical with a book by Allan Knee, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, and music by Jason Howland. Workshop productions were presented at Duke University in 2001 and 2004 and the Broadway production opened at the Virginia Theatre on January 23, 2005. Based on the classic 1869 Louisa May Alcott semi-autobiographical novel, LITTLE WOMEN focuses on the four March sisters: aspiring writer Jo (Lilly Lane Stafford), romantic Meg (Caroline Kinnamore), the easily hurt Amy (Maddie Dennison), and kind Beth (Emily McIntyre) as well as their beloved Marmee (Maddrey Blackwood.) The women are at the family home in Concord, Massachusetts while their father is away during the Civil War. The musical begins with Jo trying to sell her stories in New York but soon brings Jo back home. While the events and timing of things aren't exactly the same as in the novel; Allan Knee's script, for the most part, is expertly condensed Alcott retaining the spirit of the characters. Jason Howland's music is pleasant, if rather unmemorable, riffing musical theatre numbers out of period waltzes, polkas, and quadrilles; supported by Mindi Dickstein's rather unmemorable lyrics. The end result feels like a lesser known Rogers & Hammerstein musical. It's just good old fashioned squeaky clean family fun.
