Free tickets can now be reserved for the reading series presented by Corkscrew Theater Festival, running August 7 - September 3 at the Paradise Factory (64 East 4th Street, Manhattan). A joint effort from The Brewing Dept. and Fortress Productions, this new summer theater festival provides early-career artists a high level of production support and features five world premieres and five readings performed in repertory over four weeks. Special attention has been given to theater makers who are developing work through innovative and unusual collaborative models. A majority of the participating artists identify as women.

ABC continues its commitment to distinctive storytelling with the announcement of its 2017-18 slate of programming. The Town Hall 2014 Summer Season: Broadway Preludes presents Broadway Rising Stars, the annual revue giving recent graduates from the nation's leading performing arts schools a chance to showcase their talents and perform on the legendary stage. Directed by Scott Coulter, Broadway Rising Stars is created, hosted and written by Scott Siegel and features the brightest talent from AMDA, CAP 21, Circle in the Square, Juilliard, Marymount, The New School, NYU's Steinhardt and Tisch, Pace University, and more. The event will feature a special guest appearance by Tony Award winner Bill Irwin (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Fool Moon). RJR & Associates presents The Zombies: A Musical a world premiere musical comedy with book and lyrics by Max Resto, choreography by Tricia Brouk and Compositions/Sound Design by David J. Rios. When a person goes to see a performance, there are some instances in which he or she wishes that the characters portrayed on stage were real - that the plot was truly unfolding right before the audience's collective eye, and the circumstances which constitute the story being told would allow for more than simply a reaction. What occurs actually begins to engage the audience, compelling those watching to do more than simply go along for the ride, or join the epic adventure on which so-and-so is about to embark - an adventure through the jungles of a new land, or perhaps that towards self-discovery. In such cases, certain feelings are stirred: feelings that make someone want to stand up and engage in the world unfolding upon that stage; feelings that truly make a person want to walk on stage and join these characters in their trials and tribulations. Well, having learned of Rospo's epic story after a performance of Columbia: The Life and Death of Rospo D. Oro, it would be perfectly inhuman not to want this young man to succeed on his journey to do what was unprecedented - to live before his time amongst those who believe in nothing but what tradition dictates; it would also be just downright sad to not wish to bear witnesses to this admirable, heartwarming tale again and again.

HOPE IN CHAOS, a new play written by 9/11 relief worker, Heather McCuen which enjoyed a run at the Mainline Theatre Montreal in 2010, had been playing in New York City as part of the Tenth Anniversary Memorial Commemorations of 9/11. It cloased on September 10, 2011 at the Richmond Shepard Theatre.
