This February, Dad's Garage will challenge the portrayal of modern women in society during the scripted comedy show "Woman of the Year." Featuring sketches written by the ladies of Dad's Garage, this show twists all sorts of traditional notions of how women are supposed to act, dress, think, and live their lives. The story begins on New Year Day and goes through a year of life for a typical American woman. Traipsing through Valentine's Day, July 4, Black History Month, Halloween, and more, the sketches subvert how male-female dynamics play out in everyday life. During Valentine's Day, female executives talk about what crap men will buy to feel better about their endowment. See what happens when a Black Friday shopper meets his match in the women of his dreams. Madame President must save Christmas. And women celebrate their favorite holiday-April 20. The sketches confront female stereotypes in the home, office, and public spaces.
The San Pedro Theatre Club presents the World Premiere of FRACTURED BROADWAY: MADE IN LA. This hilarious parody with a big Los Angeles point of view is a satirical romp through your favorite musicals parodied to reflect the current affairs of live theatre in Los Angeles. With 24 original parodies set to favorite tunes from well-loved Broadway musicals, everyone from would-be actors to those struggling with auditions, from directors to producers to critics, audience members to old folks reminiscing about their past theatre glory days, has their moment to shine in the spotlight.
Over twenty years since its creation, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical adaptation of the 1950 film, SUNSET BOULEVARD, receives its first Houston-produced run in Bayou City Theatrics' innovative, new production.

The Pirates of Penzance with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert is an hilarious and hopeful farce concerning Frederic (Chris Yeschenko), who, having completed his 21st year, is released from his apprenticeship to a band of tender-hearted pirates led by the hot-shot Pirate King (the ultimate pirate Drew Fitzsimmons, who co-directed and choreographed the production with Michael-Anthony Nozzi). Performances continue through December 21 at the San Pedro Theatre Club.
Good job, Inspiration Stage. Good job.
The San Pedro Theatre Club presents CABARET, a musical based on a book written by Christopher Isherwood, with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The production is directed by Drew Fitzsimmons and Victoria Miller, who also choreographed, with music directed by Leslie Sharp. The intimate 78-seat theater allows the actors to interact with the audience on several occasions, making it really feel as if we are inside the small German cabaret rather than watching a show about it.

After attending a recent production of Stage Door Inc.'s FRANKENSTEIN-A NEW MUSICAL by Mark Baron, Jeffrey Jackson, and Gary P. Cohen, I had the opportunity to sit down with members of the talented cast.
Certainly programming a piece such as this is a major risk, especially for a community theatre, but Stage Door Inc. has put together a genuinely entertaining and completely enjoyable theatrical experience for their audiences.
On Sunday August 28, actor/singer David Fairchild debuted his show Heart of a Man @ Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's. Cabaret is a first for him. It is admirable to make a new start at any age, especially in show biz in LA, so I give Fairchild a hearty round of applause. 'It's never too late' is a motto to be taken seriously, as Fairchild forges ahead not only with the show but also his first CD.
On Sunday May 1, Carrie Hart presented the music of Rodgers and Hart in a program entitled Spring Is Here @ Sterling's Upstairs @ Vitello's. This businesswoman's in depth involvement in music and the human spirit led her to develop a one-woman show The Courage of the Creative Spirit, in which she tells the inspiring stories of the composers of the golden age of Broadway and then sings their timeless music. Spring Is Here devoted to Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart is the first in a series of individual evenings, and accompanied by the Leslie Sharp Trio, Hart performed most admirably to a warm, intimate audience.
