Direct from its sold-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the dark comedy Lightweight, will debut Off-Broadway this summer, opening July 23rd through August 26th, 2023 at SoHo Playhouse.

Award-winning comedic actress, (HACKS, ABBOTT ELEMENTARY, EUPHORIA, LOOKING) playwright, and author Lauren Weedman returns to the stage with Lauren Weedman BLOWS, a new comedy cabaret solo adventure at City Winery NYC on June 18, 2023.

Amie Enriquez will present the solo play Lightweight, written by Amie and directed by Lauren Weedman. The production will be presented as part of the 2023 FRIGID Fringe Festival at The Kraine Theater (85 E. 4th St, New York, NY 10003) with performances on Fri, Feb 17 @ 6:50pm, Sat, Feb 18 @ 1:40pm, Tue, Feb 21 @ 8:50pm, Thu, Feb 23 @ 8:50pm & Sun, Feb 26 @ 5pm.

Based on the true story of a year-long journey through a 28-day addiction treatment program, 'Lightweight' examines a complicated young woman's attempt to survive anorexia and maintain a debilitatingly positive attitude in post-9/11 New York City.

At MorningStar Dance Studio and Modeling in Baffomette Parish, Louisiana, some little girls make their dreams come true, but for some, the nightmare is just beginning. With influences from Dario Argento's Suspiria to Dance Moms! Justin Sayre brings their wild new camp offering, 5,6,7,8 -DIE! to Livestream on June 21, 2020, at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST, directed by Tom DeTrinis. The virtual showing will be live-streamed via Zoom with a suggested donation of $20 dollars. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Bail Funds for Protestors in the Black Lives Matter Movement.

On the heels of their most successful fundraising Gala in the company's history, Boise Contemporary Theater announces its 19|20 Season.

The heavily anticipated 10th anniversary special engagement of Storm Large's autobiographical, one-woman rock musical Crazy Enough opens June 25 on the U.S. Bank Main Stage. Crazy Enough broke records at The Armory in 2009 with a sold-out, 21-week run. Beginning with stories of a childhood complicated by her mother's schizophrenia, Large takes us through the ups and downs of the years that follow - sex, drugs, running away to California, and the saving grace of rock 'n' roll.  Crazy Enough features original songs by Large and James Beaton, including the hilarious and incredibly catchy "My Vagina is Eight Miles Wide." Original music director Beaton returns to the production. Crazy Enough will open on Large's 50th birthday.

Dear Readers, if you know me you know of my disdain for shows that end up as someone else's therapy on stage. So, you'll understand how I was filled with hope when ACT's current offering of Lauren Weedman's one woman show "Lauren Weedman Doesn't Live Here Anymore" began with Weedman commenting on how she too hates it when people go into the dirty details of their personal life as well as some seriously funny moments from Weedman. You'll also understand how let down I felt when she quickly abandoned that pretense and devolved into a journey of self-discovery as she laid bare all of her sordid issues as well as abandoning the funny by bringing in an unfocused and manic character to share the journey making the 80-minute evening just feel loud, scattered, self-indulgent, and pointless.

Created by British playwright Duncan Macmillan with comedian Jonny Donahoe, Every Brilliant Thing began as a short-play-turned-art-installation before becoming a full-length theater piece that was embraced at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Off-Broadway, and adapted into an HBO movie. Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan will direct Every Brilliant Thing in the round in the Ellyn Bye Studio the first studio show in Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 30th anniversary season. Every Brilliant Thing begins preview performances on September 23, opens on September 29 and runs through November 5.

Portland Center Stage at The Armory's 30th anniversary season opens with the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home. Created by Jeanine Tesori (music) and Lisa Kron (book and lyrics) and based on the celebrated graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel, Fun Home will begin preview performances on September 16, open September 22, and run through October 22 on The Armory's U.S. Bank Main Stage. Artistic Director Chris Coleman will direct a cast lead by Allison Mickelson, Sara Masterson and Aida Valentine as the central character, Alison, at three different ages. Robert Mammana (previously at The Armory as Skye Masterson in Guys and Dolls and Father in Ragtime) and Faith Sandberg will play Alison's parents, Bruce and Helen Bechdel.
