Kirstin Franklin BIO

Kirstin has been performing professionally around the country for over ten years. Her Regional credits include performances at The Guthrie, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Pangea World Theatre, The Humana Festival, The NY Fringe, Asolo Repertory Theatre, The Raven and Akvavit Theatre among many others. As a company member with Akvavit Theatre Kirstin has performed in the US Premiers of Blue Planet, Mishap, Kokkola, Autumn Dream and Red and Green. Kirstin also received rave reviews as southern belle Blanche DuBois in Jedlicka Performing Art Centre's production of "A Streetcar Named Desire". Kirstin currently lives in Chicago where she teaches theatre at North Park University and Harold Washington College. She holds a BA in Theatre from St.Olaf College and an MFA in acting from the FSU/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.

Chicago's Akvavit Theatre is pleased to announce casting for the U.S. premiere of Rhea Leman's wild black comedy HITLER ON THE ROOF, a play for two clowns starring Amy Gorelow and Jay Torrence. Co-directed by Co-Artistic Director Kirstin Franklin* and Associate Amber Robinson*, HITLER ON THE ROOF will play a limited engagement June 21 - July 9, 2017 at the new Strawdog Theatre Company, 1802 W. Berenice in Chicago. Tickets will be available Friday, May 5 at www.chicagonordic.org. 

Akvavit Theatre Announces New Artistic Leadership; Associate Company Members

Akvavit Theatre, Chicago's premier Nordic Theatre Company, will launch 2017 with new artistic leadership and an expanded ensemble. Five year Akvavit veterans Kirstin Franklin and Breahan Pautsch will serve as the company's new Co-Artistic Directors, succeeding Artistic Director Chad Eric Bergman and Managing Artistic Director Bergen Anderson, who have served since 2009. Bergman and Anderson will remain with Akvavit as Founders and as part of the original company, which still includes Mark Litwicki and Matthew Isler. Additionally, Akvavit welcomes eight new Associate company members: Richard Gilbert, Joe Giovannetti, Sarah Giovannetti, Nigel Harsch, Paulette Hicks, Micah Kronlokken, Julie Mitre and Amber Robinson.
