Geffen Playhouse celebrated its 25th Anniversary and raised $1 million for the theater’s education, community engagement and artistic initiatives at its signature Backstage at the Geffen annual fundraiser held June 4, it was announced today. 

Yesterday, the Producers Guild of America held their 33rd annual awards ceremony, honoring the most acclaimed film and television directors from 2021. The event took place at the Fairmount Century Plaza in Los Angeles, California.

The red carpet attendees at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theater included cast members Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler, Ariana DeBose, David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Josh Andrés Rivera, Rita Moreno (also executive Producer), director/producer Steven Spielberg, producer Kristie Macosko Krieger, producer Kevin McCollum and choreographer Justin Peck.

Theatre Artist Fund today announces that thanks to significant investment from Arts Council England, the fund is now open for its next round of applications. The Arts Council has contributed £1 million to the Theatre Artist Fund, following on from the £4 million distributed to benevolent funds earlier in the year as part of its Covid-19 Emergency Response Package.

This year, actress Renée Zellweger will receive the 2020 Courage Award for her charitable contributions and philanthropic efforts throughout her career, including her support of breast cancer research and awareness. The event, which will be hosted by actor, comedian, and producer Ken Jeong, will take place at the Beverly Wilshire, and benefit the WCRF, a program of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).

The Arthur Miller Foundation's annual Arthur Miller Foundation Honors will be hosted by Bradley Cooper. The evening will celebrate the power of public school arts education and honor those who have made significant contributions to the arts in their own way. Steven Spielberg & Kate Capshaw have signed on to Co-Chair the event alongside Rebecca Miller, Sandi Farkas, Janine & Michael Smith.  Honors to take place on November 18, 2019 at Second Floor in New York City. The celebration will raise funds for the Foundation's public school theater education programs, featuring notable talent from film, television, and Broadway.  This year, the foundation will feature the songs of Cole Porter, directed by Tony Award Winner Michael Mayer. The evening will include one-night only performances, including appearances by Tony & Drama Desk Award Winner, Sutton Foster, Emmy and Golden Globe Award Winner, Darren Criss, Obie and Drama Desk Award Winner, Raúl Esparza, Tony Award Winner, Lena Hall, Grammy & Emmy Award Winner, Christopher Jackson, and Winner of the Hoofer Award for tap artistry, Ayodele Casel.

Wardell, the brother-sister duo of Theo and Sasha Spielberg, have announced the release of their second full-length album, Impossible Falcon, out September 20. Additionally, they have released the first single from the album, “I'm A Man,” via Rolling Stone.
