The Television Academy Foundation announced nominees for the 43rd  College Television Awards, which recognizes and rewards excellence in student-produced programs from colleges nationwide, and revealed the recipient of the $10,000 Loreen Arbus Focus on Disability Scholarship. 

Stages Theatre Company will ring in the New Year with The Dot, a dance collaboration with Escalate Dance and Theatre Studio. Based on the award-winning book by Peter H. Allelujah! - the new play by Alan Bennett which received its world premiere at the Bridge Theatre last month - will be in cinemas on 1st November with National Theatre Live.

This highly anticipated new play from 84-year-old Alan Bennett premieres at the Bridge, continuing his long-standing relationship with Nicholas Hytner. It's an exciting get, and there are wonderful flashes of Bennett wit, wisdom and stirring empathy, but also polemical outbursts and baggy plotting that leads to a ponderous and not entirely justified run time.

As rehearsals begin, casting is announced for the world premiere of Nicholas Hytner's production of Alan Bennett's Allelujah! at the Bridge Theatre.

Opera Orlando will hold its third annual gala celebration-Una Serenata Italiana! (An Italian Serenade!)-in honor of company founders Kathy and Steve Miller on the evening of Friday, April 20. The setting will be the award-winning Alfond Inn at Rollins College in Winter Park, and the evening will include opera performances from a quintet of nationally renowned soloists accompanied by pianist Robin Stamper, special tributes to the honorees, and a silent auction. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by a formal dinner at 7:30 p.m. The Orlando Sentinel's "Taking Names" columnist, Scott Maxwell, will host the gala.

Michael Kaiser, chairman of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management and president emeritus of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, recently completed a six-month organizational analysis of Opera Orlando. He worked closely with the organization's board and staff to create a five-year strategic plan.

CARMINA BURANA ran from April 12-April 14th at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. It was by far the best theatrical experience bringing together two of Orlando's best. CARMINA BURANA featured Orlando Ballet and the choir and orchestra of the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park. Choreographed by Robert Hill and Conducted by John V. Sinclair, the production featured 150 chorus members, the full company of Orlando Ballet, and more than a 50 person orchestra.

Vienna has been home to some of the world's most important composers and has inspired some of the greatest works in Western musical history. The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park concludes its 2011-2012 Season with "Spring in Vienna," featuring music that captures the spirit of the "city of music." The Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra are joined by soprano Julia Foster and tenor Curtis Rayam on a program including the Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss, the first movement of Schubert's Symphony No. 8 ("The Unfinished"), excerpts from Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, and "Spring" from Haydn's The Seasons.
