NEW YORK, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ Scholastic and the non-profit organization, We Need Diverse Books, today announced the expansion of their collaboration to bring more books by diverse authors and featuring diverse characters into schools nationwide. For the 2016-17 school year, Scholastic Reading Club and We Need Diverse Books will collaborate on eight flyers to be distributed in classrooms with students ranging in age from toddler to teen. These offers will elevate stories by and about people from traditionally underrepresented communities. NEW YORK, Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ We are currently entering the second month of 'Danger Season' the time of year when temperatures around the nation begin to drop leaving underserved children in need of warm sleepwear and comfort. This same time also marks the second year of Pajama Program's One Million Good Nights nationwide initiative to collect one million new pajamas, one million new books, and the resources needed to get them in the hands of young children and teens in need here in the U.S. To date, One Million Good Nights has already hit its halfway mark with 500,180 pajamas and 590,428 books collected so far. The campaign will continue until December 31, 2015.

On Tuesday, Pajama Program launched the One Million Good Nights nationwide initiative to collect one million new pajamas, one million new books, and the resources needed to get them in the hands of children and adolescents in need here in the U.S. The campaign begins today, October 1(st), when temperatures begin to drop and 'Danger Season' starts for these children. The campaign continues until December 31, 2015. Pajama Program's major partners in the One Million Good Nights initiative are Carter's, Inc., Scholastic Inc., and Sprout. The New York City launch event is hosted by Pajama Program board member Carla Hall of ABC's 'The Chew,' and features a performance by Sadie Sink, currently performing in Broadway's 'Annie,' and volunteers reading and distributing new pajamas to children.
