The Mirror Theatre to Present AMERICAN SONG BOOK and A New Play About Einstein and Reich


Sabra Jones, Artistic Director of The Mirror Theater, is delighted to be back with a new exciting summer stock season. First a new play by S. E. Endicott called 'Creation' about the first meeting between Albert Einstein and Wilhem Reich to discuss the discovery of a new energy, Argon (July 25th) Followed by 'American Song Book' at Highland Center For the Arts, a medley of past summer stock musicals performed by the Mirror Theater (July 28th.)

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center Announces SEGAL TALKS Week Ten


The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center has announced the tenth weekly line-up of its new global series, SEGAL TALKS, which was conceived, created and curated by Frank Hentschker in March 2020. New York, US, and international theatre artists, curators, researchers, and academics will talk daily for one hour with Segal Center's director, Frank Hentschker, about life and art in the Time of Corona and speak about challenges, sorrows, and hopes for the new Weltzustanda?" the State of the World. The Segal Center is the only theatre institution in NYC and the US creating original content.

Brian Cox Directs UK Premiere Of Joshua Sobol's SINNERS At The Playground Theatre


Multi-Award winning Brian Cox directs the UK première of Sinners a?" The English Professor by Joshua Sobol, starring Nicole Ansari (Layla) and Adam Sina (Nur). The production opens at The Playground Theatre on 26 February, with previews from 25 February and runs until 14 March.

The Playground Theatre Announces Spring Season


The Playground Theatre's 2020 season foregrounds the work of female playwrights, directors and creatives with a wide-reaching programme of theatre and dance. Stand out productions include a play about the life of Ida Rubinstein, a dancer with Diaghilev's Ballet Russes who fearlessly courted controversy. Later in the Spring, Joshua Sobel's Sinners comes to the theatre in a production directed by the award-winning actor Brian Cox and starring Nicole Ansari. The season also features Mum, the story of caring for an elderly relative with dementia, and Fragments, another show combining themes of memory, history and how we (re)write the past.

MasterVoices Announces 2019-20 Season


Ted Sperling, Artistic Director of MasterVoices, announced details of the acclaimed ensemble's 78th season, celebrating the joy of choral singing and the power of the human voice to unite, inspire and connect since 1941. Highlights include three major musical presentations at top venues, including a New York premiere, and the World Premiere of a new work, commissioned by the Company. Throughout the season there will be collaborations with leading singers, artists, ensembles and organizations, some who are familiar with and others who are new to the Company.

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) today announced the nominees for the 23rd Annual IRNE Awards, which honor the best of the previous year's actors, directors, choreographers, designers and companies across the full spectrum of large, mid-size and fringe theater companies. Moulin Rouge!, a new musical produced by Global Creatures, and An American in Paris, produced by the Ogunquit Playhouse, led with 12 and 11 nominations, respectively, in the Large Stage Musical Category. The Huntington Theatre led all companies with 31 nominations across seven productions, including 11 for Man in the Ring, the story of six-time world champion prizefighter Emile Griffith.

After an absence of five years and under the auspices of the Cherry Orchard Festival, Israel's acclaimed Gesher Theatre returns to New York in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel. On Today, October 2, just prior to the performances, Gesher Artistic Director Yevgeny Arye and company members invite the public to join them for a free screening on the making of Dibukim, a 60-minute film by Ram Loevy, winner of the honorable mention at the Haifa International Film Festival, which documents the production process of The Dybbuk and follows the creative team and actors during rehearsals. The screening will be followed by a 30-minute question and answer session with Yevgeny Arye and members of the company. This film is in Hebrew with English subtitles. More info & trailer.

Israel's Gesher Theatre Returns To NYC With Two New Productions


Maria Shclover and Irina Shabshis, Cherry Orchard Festival co-founders and producers, today announced Israel's celebrated Gesher Theatre will return to New York City in early October with its two leading productions The Dybbuk and In the Tunnel at The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (524 West 59 Street).  Founded in 1991 in Tel Aviv by director Yevgeny Arye, these Gesher Theatre productions are being presented as part of a North American tour, which includes performances in Toronto and Pittsburgh. Performances are October 3 and 4 for The Dybbuk and October 6 and 7 for In the Tunnel.
