StoryBook Theatre is back for another magical season full of inspiration with productions that are fun, dynamic and enchanted!

The Segal Centre is thrilled to be welcoming back Tony nominee and 4-time Dora winner Louise Pitre and W. Joseph Matheson (as seen in 2018's hit The Angel and the Sparrow) for a concert celebration of Jewish musical artists of the 60s. Directed by Avery Saltzman, The Times They Are a Changin' will be rocking the Sylvan Adams Theatre from March 1 to March 22, 2020. 

The Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that due to popular demand, the English-language world premiere of The Angel and the Sparrow will be extending until May 13, 2018. Based on the true story of Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, two indomitable women of incomparable talent, this new musical drama is an intimate and entertaining portrait of the fascinating friendship between show business legends that began under the most unlikely of circumstances and lasted their entire lives.  

Portraying known figures onstage is an immense challenge. Thankfully, both Pitre and Street offered us charismatic and sentimental interpretations instead of imitations of these larger than life ladies. The Angel and the Sparrow gives us a bird's eye view into the lives of the two European superstars, beginning with how they first met in a public washroom.

The Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company and Dancap Productions present THE JAZZ SINGER, a new musical adaption of Samson Raphaelson's classic story of a son's struggle between his passion for a Broadway career, and his father's plans to have him follow in his footsteps as a cantor. The production will run May 23 - June 18, 2017 at Greenwin Theatre, Toronto Centre for the Arts.

After a spring audition tour across the country to see hundreds of Canada's most exciting musical theatre performers, Theatre Calgary just announced the cast for the world premiere of The Little Prince - The Musical by Nicholas Lloyd Webber and James D. Reid.

2013 is quickly coming to close, which means it's time for the ever popular year end lists that feature the cream of the crop of the year that was. 2013 was an incredible year for Toronto theatre, with many organizations posting record numbers for attendance and lots of productions quickly becoming critical darlings.

It's an exciting holiday theatre season in Toronto, with lots of great options for children and grown ups alike! One option which is bound to appeal to people of all ages is the classic tale of ANNIE - being presented by Young People's Theatre and starring newcomer Jenny Weisz in the iconic role. No version of Annie is complete without the villainous Miss Hannigan and Rooster - the characters who stand between Annie and her future happiness. In this new production, they're played by real life husband and wife Louise Pitre and Joe Matheson - who are teaming up to sink their teeth into the despicable (yet very funny) duo. Louise spoke with BWW about playing the villain, her experiences with Young People's Theatre and the enduring power of Annie:

Louise Pitre's solo show ON THE ROCKS opened last night at Theatre Passe Muraille, kicking off their 2013-2014 season. An original piece that she wrote herself and produced with a dynamic all-female team, the show explores her life, love, loss and so much more. It's heartbreaking, honest and poignant, and showcases exactly why she's musical theatre royalty and a Canadian national treasure.

The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. A record number of Doras were given out, with Young People's Theatre's CINDERELLA the runaway hit of the evening with seven awards. BWW is thrilled readers photos from the evening.

On Monday January 23rd Theatre 20 announced its inaugural season in a very special event held at Toronto's The National Club. On hand for the announcement were most of Theatre 20's founding members, as well as members of the arts community, city councilors, special musical guests and invited members of the press.
