The Audio Publishers Association has announced finalists for the 2023 Audie Awards®, the premier awards program recognizing distinction in audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment. Winners across 26 competitive categories will be revealed at the Audie Awards Gala on March 28. The ceremony will be streamed to the public from Chelsea Piers’ Pier Sixty in NYC. 

JASMINE STARR-KIDD will have its world premiere on the Hertz Stage at Alliance Theatre March 1 – April 1, 2023.  Opening night is March 8, 2023.

The Audio Publishers Association (APA) have announced finalists for the 2022 Audie Awards. Finalists include Cynthia Erivo for Best Female Narrator and Lin-Manuel Miranda for Best Male Narrator. A Christmas Carol, Alliance Theatre's annual holiday production, returns for its 29th season, December 12 - 24, 2018 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.  The most heartwarming story of the season comes to life with holiday carols, stunning stage magic, and your favorite Atlanta actors.  Directed by Rosemary Newcott, the Sally G. Tomlinson Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families, A Christmas Carol has become a tradition for many families around the southeast. 

I consider myself a Shakespeare purist of the worst sort.  I wax snobbish at Shakespeare productions where Hamlet, language updated, sounds like a California surfer:  'Dude.  It was my uncle, Bro.'  I scoff at productions that situate themselves in some setting that's divergent from the original.  Macbeth cannot be a one-man show set in an insane asylum, and Midsummer is definitely no good in a Catholic school for girls.  But soft!  Methinks I've stumbled upon an anomaly that's making me rethink my whole purist disdain for the Creative Shakespeare Catalogue O' Crap.  That anomaly is Alliance Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream that's playing on an outdoor stage at the Atlanta Botanical Garden through October 21.  Though the production liberally infuses the Bard's most delightful play with a healthy dose of our 21st- century American vernacular, frames the action of the play in a moern garden being outfitted for a wedding, and cuts a significant portion of the original play, it's still pretty darn magical. 

The Suzi Bass Awards revealed nominations for the 2017-2018 Atlanta professional theatre season on Monday evening, August 27, to patrons and industry artists. Georgia Shakespeare co-founder and Artistic Director Richard Garner is directing this love letter to William Shakespeare in his company's former home at Oglethorpe University's Conant Performing Arts Center while the Alliance Theatre undergoes a complete renovation. Performances are August 30 - September 24, 2017.  Opening night is Today, September 6.
