Photo Flash: CHINGLISH Begins Tonight at Syracuse Stage


Chinglish is Tony Award-Winning playwright David Henry Hwang's hilarious new comedy about the misadventures of miscommunication. It tells the story of an American businessman, Daniel Cavanaugh, who travels to a bustling Chinese province looking to score a lucrative contract in properly translated signs. But the deal isn't the only thing lost in translation as he tangles with a government official, a bumbling consultant, and a surprisingly sexy bureaucrat along the way. Chinglish performs today, February 26-March 16 in the Archbold Theatre at the Syracuse Stage/Drama Complex. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Yangtze Rep's THE EMPRESS DOWAGER Plays Theater for the New City, Now thru 6/23


Yangtze Repertory Theatre's 20th anniversary production is 'The Empress Dowager,' a three-act epic examining 40 years of the reign of the Manchu empress who ruled China from behind the throne. It recounts the perilous journey of an ancient kingdom seeking a place in the modern world. The play is written and directed by Joanna Chan, Artistic Director, and will be performed by a cast of 25 in Mandarin Chinese with English subtitles. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present the piece tonight, May 31 to June 23.

Black Lab Theatre and Asia Society Texas Center to Present CHINGLISH, 5/9-26


The regional premiere of the Broadway hit comedy 'CHINGLISH,' by Tony Award winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly) opens May 9th at the Asia Society Texas Center's Brown Foundation Performing Arts Theater. The famous comedy about the challenges of Americans doing business in China will be presented by Black Lab Theatre in collaboration with Asia Society Texas Center and feature a member of the original Broadway and international cast. CHINGLISH will open May 9, 2013 and run through May 26, 2013.
