TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts, has just announced that celebrated costume designer ANN HOULD-WARD and legendary scenic designer RICHARD HUDSON are among the 2024 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients.

These books, many of which were written by current or former set designers, take a deep dive into what the art is all about, how to get started, what research goes into the craft, and even how to design on a budget!

Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. Tony Award-winning set designer Beowulf Boritt wanted to evoke and pay homage to all the original set designers of Hal Prince's iconic shows. To that end, he hid the names of those original designers within each scene's design.

'MAME', starring Angela Lansbury opened on Broadway 50 years ago! Last evening Thursday, May 26th, members of that company gathered for a 50th Anniversary Celebration at Sardi's.

Two-time Tony Award nominated costume designer Carrie Robbins, and scenic, lighting, costume designer and educator Lloyd Burlingame are among the 2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 4, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Ms. Robbins was selected to receive the 2012 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Mr. Burlingame will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design.

Scenes from The Eternal Romeo and Juliet, a play written by University of North Texas theatre professor Andrew Harris, will debut in London on February 7th at the remains of the historic Rose Theatre, an Elizabethan playhouse where William Shakespeare is believed to have performed and his plays Henry VI Part I and Titus Andronicus were originally presented.
