Launching its 46th Milestone Season, Pan Asian Repertory Theatre has announced as a tribute to the Chinese architect Maya Lin with deep respect for her courage and creativity, the titanic role of 'Maya' will be played by two actors - Angel Lin and Nancy Ma - in alternation for the world premiere of Memorial by Livian Yah.

Welcome, ladies and gentlefolk, to the modern-day revival of Southern Gothic. HOMETOWN BOY at Actor’s Express is a beautifully grotesque show about how secrets are like leeches you can’t remove until you’ve faced them. Full of turmoil, lies, and revolting truths, HOMETOWN BOY challenges not just your perception of the South, but your place in it. 

NAATCO will present a virtual reading of Our Town by Thornton Wilder with an all-Asian American cast for one night only, Wednesday May 19th, at 8pm, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The proceeds of this reading will benefit the company.

AUBERGINE is, like its title, a quirky cross-cultural offering; like eggplant, it won't be to everyone's taste. It's a meditation circling around the ways food, family, memory, and mortality intertwine. Personally, I found it engaging though longer than it needs to be, at 2 hours and 10 minutes, including intermission.

Park Square Theatre opens its 2019-2020 Theatre Season on the Andy Boss Trust Stage with the area premiere of Aubergine (SEPT 20 a?" OCT 20, 2019) by Julia Cho, author of The Language Archive. Aubergine will be directed by Park Square's Artistic Director Flordelino Lagundino a?" his Park Square directing debut.

Aubergine, by American playwright and television writer of Korean descent, Julia Cho, is a didactic play, heavy on pathos, but not without humor, that finds its origins in Cho's own life, specifically, the death of her father. Similarly in this play, protagonist Ray, played by Tony Nam, cares for his dying father (Glenn Kubota) at home, with the help of nurse Lucien (Jefferson A. Russell), girlfriend Cornelia (Eunice Bae) and his Uncle (Song Kim).

Everyman's Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi directs this so-production with the Olney Theatre Cednter.

When words fail, a home-cooked meal transcends differences in Aubergine-a heartfelt story of food, family and memory from playwright Julia Cho, receiving its Mid-Atlantic premiere at Everyman Theatre, March 14 through April 15, 2018. Directed by Everyman Theatre Founding Artistic Director Vincent M. Lancisi and produced in association with Olney Theatre Center, Aubergine is a mouthwatering meditation on the beauty of life where hope is no mere ingredient-it's the main course.
