Chaos, mania, and enchantment have gotten loose on the Children’s Theatre Company’s stage and they have joined together to create a fantastical new production of Alice in Wonderland that is sure to be just the thing to chase away the winter chill.

BWW Review: Phylicia Rashad Brilliant in HEAD OF PASSES

Does everyone believe in God? Obviously, some do and some do not. For those that do, how deep does that faith go? Shelah (Phylicia Rashad) lives in her old decaying homestead in Head of Passes, where the Mississipi River meets the Gulf of Mexico. The time is now. She is dying but will not be treated by a doctor, even though Doctor Anderson (James Carpenter) is a family friend. She believes in the power of the Lord, and when the play begins, she has called a family gathering to bring her sons and daughter together to discuss sharing the property she is about to will them. Currently at MTF, Tarell Alvin McCraney has created a powerful play Head of Passes with the brilliant Rashad heading an outstanding cast of eight, directed meticulously by Tina Landau, through October 22.

BWW Review: MARY'S WEDDING Fails to Strike an Emotional Chord, at Portland Center Stage

Stephen Massicotte's MARY'S WEDDING, now playing at Portland Center Stage, never quite becomes the engrossing tragic historical romance it aspires to.

A Young Love and the Great War Collide Within a Dream in Stephen Massicotte's Play MARY'S WEDDING

Mary's Wedding, Stephen Massicotte's dream-centered love story set during World War One, opens in The Armory's Ellyn Bye Studio on April 21, with preview performances beginning April 15 and regular performances running through May 28. Brandon Woolley will direct this tender story, starring Lexi Lapp and Alex J. Gould in their company debuts. Lapp will play Mary, the English dreamer we meet on the eve of her wedding day, and "Flowers," a commanding officer in WWI. Gould will play Charlie, the Canadian farm boy turned soldier.
