Boston University Celebrates First Anniversary of Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre Complex


December marks the first anniversary of the opening of Boston University's Joan & Edgar Booth Theatre Complex which includes the College of Fine Arts Production Center.  The 75,000-square-foot state-of-the-art theater complex, designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, has a 250-seat theater, production and costume shops, design labs, classrooms, faculty offices, and a landscaped plaza.

Abingdon Theatre Company presents its first musical with the New York premiere of THE BOY WHO DANCED ON AIR, with music by Tim Rosser and book and lyrics by Charlie Sohne, winners of 2015 Jonathan Larson and Mary Rodgers/Lorenz Hart awards. Directed by Abingdon Theatre Company Artistic Director Tony Speciale, THE BOY WHO DANCED ON AIR plays four weeks only, tonight, May 15, through June 11, at the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Opening night is Thursday, May 25 at 7PM.

Applications Now Being Accepted for the Broadway For All Summer Conservatory


Broadway For All, a NYC not-for-profit that offers tuition-free training in the performing arts to promising middle and high school students, is accepting applications for its summer conservatory program through Sunday, April 19. The summer conservatory will run in a convenient Midtown location on weekdays from June 29 to August 5 from 9:45 AM - 4:00 PM.

Producers Aiming to Open Broadway Revival of A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS in 2015; Tony Nominee Gregory Mosher to Direct & Anjelica Huston to Star?


According to The New York Times, sources have confirmed that producers Nelle Nugent, Barbara Broccoli, and Fred Zollo are currently developing a Broadway revival of A.R. Gurney's two-character piece LOVE LTTERS, which is reportedly aiming to open at the Vivian Beaumont Theater in 2015. Tony nominee Gregory Mosher is attached to direct.

Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY Coming to Broadway in March 2013


According to an Equity casting notice, Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY will open on Broadway at a Shubert Theatre in March 2013. Though casting has not been announced, Tom Hanks was previously attached to the project before Ephron's death last summer.

Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY Still Coming to Broadway


In early May, BroadwayWorld reported that Tom Hanks will be heading to Broadway in 2013 in Nora Ephron's LUCKY GUY. According to the New York Times, the production will still happen, despite Ephron's recent death. A new production timeline has not yet been announced.

Tom Hanks to Make Broadway Debut in LUCKY GUY in January


Tom Hanks will make his Broadway Debut in LUCKY GUY by Nora Ephron, according to Michael Riedel of the New York Post. The play, previously titled Stories About McAlary, centers on the life of the late New York Post and Daily News columnist Mike McAlary. A full production of the revised script directed by George C. Wolfe is slated for a limited run at the Shubrt theater in January.

Tom Hanks has been invited to play McAlary in Nora Ephron's new play's STORIES ABOUT MCALARY, but according to today's New York Post he is unsure about the role.

ONCE Musical Headed to Broadway in February?


Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that the new musical Once, inspired by Dublin street performers and a stage adaptation of the eponymous film, may make it's Broadway debut in February of 2012. The musical recently received a workshop at the American Repertory Theatre in Boston and will be given a full production at the New York Theatre Workshop in December.

Nicolas Cage to Star in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST on Broadway?


Michael Riedel reports in today's New York Post that Nicolas Cage is considering a Broadway box next year starring in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's next in a new production produced by Robert Cole and Fred Zollo who last produced the Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman production of A Steady Rain.

Tiffany & Hogget to Helm ONCE on Bway; Creative Team Announced


Smuggler Films partners, John N. Hart & Patrick Milling Smith and film and theatre producers, Fred Zollo and Barbara Broccoli & Michael G Wilson have announced the creative team for upcoming stage adaptation of the 2007 Academy Award-winning film ONCE, coming to Broadway in Fall 2011. The musical will feature the Academy Award-winning music and lyrics of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, a book by award-winning Irish playwright & screenwriter, Enda Walsh (Penelope, Hunger, The New Electric Ballroom), direction by the acclaimed Scottish director of Black Watch, John Tiffany, design by five time Tony Award winner Bob Crowley (The Coast of Utopia, Mary Poppins). Steven Hoggett (American Idiot, Black Watch) will provide musical staging and Martin Lowe (Mamma Mia!) is the music director.

Jackman Leads Reading of Ephron's STORIES ABOUT MCALARY


Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that Hugh Jackman has his sights set on the stage again, having just participated in a reading of Nora Ephron's new play, Stories about McAlary. Directed by Mike Nichols, the play cernters on the life of the late New York Post and Daily News columnist Mike McAlary (read by Jackman). The reading also included Sarah Paulson and Richard Kind.
