An American in Paris is back in Paris.

The classic French farce "A Flea in Her Ear" at the Westport Country Playhouse and a nostalgic revival of "The Music Man" at Goodspeed Musicals took top honors at the Monday, June 3rd Connecticut Critics Circle Awards.

Broadway star Drew Gehling will perform at Shakespeare on The Sound's Masquerade Gala on Saturday, April 5th alongside fellow Broadway talent to benefit the organization's summer production of Twelfth Night and their educational programs.

The recent revival of HELLO DOLLY may have just left the Great White Way and, sure, there's a fresh tour starring Broadway legend (and Fort Worth native) Betty Buckley just around the corner…but the production currently on stage in Fort Worth is worth putting on your Sunday clothes for with a dazzling production featuring a terrific cast of characters. Christopher Wheeldon's visually stunning production of AN AMERICAN IN PARIS has come dancing into Broadway In Chicago's Oriental Theatre. Wheeldon's complex and extensive choreography is the most striking and entertaining element of this new musical, based upon the classic Gene Kelly film and with a new book by Craig Lucas that weaves together George and Ira Gershwin's lush song catalog. AN AMERICAN IN PARIS enjoyed a successful Broadway run in 2015, and this touring company can certainly keep up with Wheeldon's moves as well as the original ensemble.

My Broadway review of “An American In Paris, A New Musical,” stated that it was “a visual, dance-driven Broadway story-telling creation that is gorgeous, enchanting, seamless and sophisticated.” Though I won't go raise the banner as high for the touring production, I will say that it is a very, very pleasing and “'S Wonderful” evening of theater.

With the fighting over and the French Tricolour waving high, Paris finds itself beginning to stand straight again after a battering war. Adam Hochberg (Etai Benson) and Jerry Mulligan (McGee Maddox), two former United States soldiers who fought in the war, stake their claim in the City of Lights in 1945, both for varying reasons. Add on top of this a beautiful young dancer who has caught the eyes of more than her dance instructors, and An American in Paris is born.
