Birdland was the scene of a very special show last night as friends and family gathered for the Wedding Celebration of Ann Hampton Callaway and Kari Strand. Broadway at Birdland and Jim Caruso's Cast Party have seen many famous and talented people on that legendary stage but it will be hard to top last night's list of guests. On April 10, 2015 at 8:00PM, The New York Pops closed its 32nd subscription season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, with four of today's finest entertainers - Tony DeSare, Storm Large, Frankie Moreno, and Ryan Silverman - in a celebration of the centennial of America's original idol, Frank Sinatra. The postmodern version of the classic, elegant New York night club of the 1950's show will be brought to life in the only New York City night club left that still truly captures that ambiance.

Leonard Bernstein titled a book 'The Joy Of Music'. The first time I attended a New York Pops concert with Steven Reineke at the helm that's the first thing I thought of. By the time the last note was played I realized the Pops new music director was much more than that. Steven also represents The Joy Of Life. Then, Steven met Eric, an equivalently matched person with whom to travel on life's journey.

Continuing October 5 and 11, Tony DeSare brings My Generation: The Contemporary American Songbook to 54 Below. Tony's brand new show celebrates the genius of writers who have expanded the Great American Songbook in recent times like Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Carole King and Michael MacDonald, as well as 'adopted' American songwriters like Paul McCartney, Elton John and Barry Gibb. Everyone knows the brilliance of the Great American Songbook - which has been performed for many years, and in many different ways. But that songbook has expanded beyond 1955 - and now is the time to celebrate other writers who have created iconic music in the past half century. As always - Tony will have some exciting new material of his own - and a few wonderful surprises to share with the audience.
