The Hub Theatre, continues its foray into new plays that highlight our common humanity with the world premiere of The Secrets of the Universe (and other songs) by playwright Marc Acito. Secrets, the final production in The Hub's 10th season, will run from July 6-29, 2018 at the John Swayze Theatre in Fairfax, Virginia and is a Co-Production with the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia. Secrets marks The Hub's third production by Marc Acito, after audience favorite Birds of a Feather (2012 Helen Hayes Outstanding New Play winner; Outstanding Ensemble nominee), and How I Paid for College (starring Broadway's Tony Nominated Alex Brightman). The show will be directed by Hub's founding Artistic Director, Helen R. Murray, and produced by incoming Artistic Director, Matt Bassett.

Featuring contemporary work from all five Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland), the festival will begin today, December 12 and continue through Sunday, December 14.

The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs open their season with two of Shakespeare's finest, most dynamic works. Cymbeline, under the direction of Caitlin Ryan O'Connell ('16), opens October 16 and Hamlet, directed by James D Palmer ('16) opens October 29, 2014. Cymbeline, a romantic comedy that focuses on rebellion, justice and reconciliation runs October 16-19. Next up, Hamlet, running October 29-November 2, follows a young man searching for truth while avenging his father's mysterious death. Red Tape Theatre is proud to announce the appointment of Brandon Ray as its new Artistic Director, the third in Red Tape's ten-year history. Ray was previously the inaugural Artistic Director of Chicago's New Leaf Theatre. He returns to Chicago theatre after receiving his MFA in Directing from Illinois State University's School of Theatre and Dance in May 2012. Ray has already begun the transition into his role with Red Tape.

It's King Lear. But there's no King Lear. Experimental playwright and Doris Duke Artist Award winner Young Jean Lee has penned a whimsical and psychologically disturbing look at a world in which the pater familias is noticeably absent. The children are left to run the show but they must first overcome their anxiety and regret. As the story goes off the rails, Big Bird arrives to help us make sense of the madness. This is James D Palmer's return to Lee's work after Church/Pullman, WA, one of Time Out Chicago's Top Plays of 2011.

Red Tape Theatre has announced that Artistic Director and founding ensemble member James D Palmer (The Love of the Nightingale, Elephant's Graveyard), has been accepted into the MFA Directing Program at Brown/Trinity. His final Chicago production will be Lear, which marks James' return to the work of Young Jean Lee following the successful production of her two plays Church and Pullman, Wa in 2011.

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University, and OBERON will host an epic reading of Beowulf in the original Old English - beginning at 12 noon, and preceding the evening performance of the Banana Bag & Bodice SongPlay Beowulf - A Thousand Years of Baggage, text by Jason Craig, music by Dave Malloy, co-directed by Rod Hipskind & Mallory Catlett.
