Rehearsals are underway for Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) second play of the 2018-19 season, which asks, When you feel lost, how do you find your way? Steppenwolf for Young Adults Artistic Director Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle co-direct We Are Proud to Present A Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German S dwestafrika, Between the Years 1884 - 1915, which will include a tour to six Chicago neighborhoods in partnership with Steppenwolf Education City Connections partners, BUILD, Inc, the Chicago Park District and Chicago Public Library. Each stop on the tour is open to the public and will include a community workshop, a performance of the play and a post-show discussion.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) announced full casting for its upcoming production of We Are Proud to Present a Presentation About the Herero of Namibia, Formerly Known as South West Africa, From the German Sudwestafrika, Between the Years 1884-1915 by Jackie Sibblies Drury, co-directed by Hallie Gordon and Gabrielle Randle. It's the second of SYA's 2018-19 two-play season which asks, "When You Feel Lost, How Do You Find Your Way?" The cast features Will Alan (Actor 3/Another White Man), Taylor Blim (Actor 5/Sarah), Jeffrey Owen Freelon Jr. (Actor 2/Black Man), Michael Holding (Actor 1/White Man), Daniel Kyri (Actor 3/Another Black Man) and Jennifer Latimore (Actor 6/Black Woman).

Fresh from its preview performance at the Cricoteka Centre in Krakow, Poland, THE BRINK! will run for three weekends only at Links Hall before traveling to India for the 8th International Theatre Olympics in Mumbai and New Delhi.  With its signature style, Chicago's premier laboratory ensemble presents an entirely new work that asks with ardor and brass, "What happens now… here on the brink?"

Broadway, Chicago. Directed by Walkabout's Artistic Director Thom Pasculli+, MOTHER OF SMOKE features original writing by Emma Stanton+, Morgan McNaught, Lucas Baisch and Ruth Margraff* with original music and text by Lucia Thomas. Five free performances will be presented August 16, August 23-24 and August 26-27, 2016 at unique outdoor venues across the City, primarily through the Chicago Park District's 'Night Out in the Parks' series. Commissioned text by Emma Stanton is fused with interwoven narratives of movement, music, group choreography and funerary rites that investigate the fatigue of hope in the face of profound grief. Directed by Co-Artistic Director Kendra Miller with movement by Co-Artistic Director Thom Pasculli, THE CURE will play June 1 - 18, 2016 at The Sidney R. The Jeff Awards Committee today announced 121 nominations in 24 categories for the 43rd Annual Non-Equity Jeff Awards for productions that opened between April 1, 2015, and March 31, 2016. The Non-Equity Awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract. Jeff judges attended opening nights of 148 productions offered by 67 Non-Equity producing organizations. The Jeff Committee recommended 65 of those shows (or 44%), making them eligible for Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations. Of the 65 Jeff Recommended productions, a record 53 (or 82%) received nominations, representing 32 theatre companies.
