Christy Carlson Romano BIO

She began acting at the tender age of six, which led to playing one of the orphans in Annie. She had already gone far when she began touring in The Will Rogers Follies as one of Will Rogers' sons two years later. She also toured in The Sound Of Music with Marie Osmond as one of the Von Trapp children. Her Broadway debut was in the musical Parade as the part of a young girl murdered in the factory where she worked.
In the fall of 1999, Christy was in the off-Broadway musical Stars In Your Eyes playing the young astronomy student. She began her film career as a singing banana in Woody Allen's Everybody Says I Love You and an abused girl in Henry Fool.
She later auditioned for, and received, the female lead of Ren Stevens in the Disney Channel original comedy Even Stevens. Disney was so impressed with her audition that they changed the nature of the show into a sibling rivalry show, so Christy would have more air time. Ren Stevens is a book smart girl who always studies, does her homework and hates her brother, like any regular girl.
In 2004, she performed as Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway for eight months, and in early 2005, she returned at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA (where she performed in Annie) to reprise the role of "Belle" during the Junior Broadway Theater Festival. During this festival she was awarded the "Junior Broadway Star Award" for being such a great role model to her young fans.
She released her first solo CD of her Disney TV and movie hits in October of 2004, and is currently working on another of her own music.
On February 22nd, 2005, Connecticut celebrated "Christy Carlson Romano Day" where she was given the key to the city, and also awarded the first "Connecticut's Finest" award.
She was nominated for an Emmy award in 2005 for her voice performance of Kim Possible.
She guest starred on the WB hit series "Summerland" as the spoiled rock-star diva Gigi, played a hall monitor God on "Joan of Arcadia" and the Disney Channel showed it's first animated movie "Kim Possible: So the Drama", which of course features Christy doing the voice of Kim.
Christy has filmed several movies for ABC Family, "Campus Confidential" in which she played a misplaced and disgruntled high school student - this movie premiered in August of 2005. And "The Cutting Edge 2 - Going for the Gold ", a sequel to a very popular movie from the 90's in which Christy played an Olympic-hopeful ice skater. She reprised her role of Jackie Dorsey, as a coach this time, in "The Cutting Edge 3 - Chasing the Dream " in 2008 .
Two of Christy's original Disney Channel movies were the highest rated of all time; "The Even Stevens Movie" in which Christy plays Ren Stevens - the Stevens family think it's a normal vacation, until they find out they are the subjects of television's newest reality show; and "Cadet Kelly" in which Christy plays a hard-nosed military school instructor to Hilary Duff's preppy art-school character. The DVDs feature Christy doing commentaries, and voicing the games on the bonus tracks.
Christy also writes her own music, and has sold a few of her songs to companies such as The Mattel Toy Company, and Sony Records.
She has performed live concerts in several states across America, including Maine, California, Illinois, and Georgia. She was a part of DisneyMania 3 Live, which is currently on DVD, and she has also sung the "National Anthem" for a Major League baseball game in Kansas City.
Christy is involved with several charities, making it a very important part of her life. Some charities have included; Equity Fights Aids, The Actors Fund, Leukemia Foundation, American Heart Association, UNICEF 50th Anniversary, Broadway Barks, The Professional Children's School Musicale and Spring Benefits, she has dedicated the proceeds of her "Ready for Action" Mickey Statue to the Children's Miracle Network, she has participated in Make a Wish Foundation, and has done PSA's for the Child's Safety Network on the Internet.
