Christopher Tester BIO

I have a great passion for theatre arts, and believe in making the theatre enjoyable and accessible for everyone. I have worked with different theatre and theatrical projects off and on since college. Most recently, I performed in my very first musical ever! I performed as Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof with Lyric Theatre in Oklahoma alongside with fabulous Sandra Mae Frank from Spring Awakening. What a ride that was, to learn to sing (in ASL) and dance at the same time, with choreography was far harder than I expected but a thrilling and rewarding experience. I plan to continue to act along with fellow Deaf actors and non-deaf actors to create a bridge between two languages and two worlds.

I don't only act, I also consult on script for Deaf characters, provide ASL or BSL coaching, translating English script to American Sign Language, and provide training on understanding Deaf role and communications.

BWW Review: THE STRANGE CASE OF JEKYLL & HYDE, Jack Studio Theatre

This take on the familiar tale brings out many of the subtleties of its source material and has much to say about today's world. It is a little too long though.

BWW Review: ONE GIANT LEAP, Jack Studio Theatre

One Giant Leap takes a good set up - a failing sci-fi show asked to fake the moon landings - but loses its way amongst predictable stereotypes and laughs that come few and far between.

BWW Review: DRACULA, Jack Studio Theatre

Ross MacGregor's Dracula needs a transfusion of narrative pace if it is to achieve its considerable (and laudable) ambition.

BWW Review: FRANKENSTEIN, Jack Studio Theatre

Frankenstein, likes its eponymous anti-hero, is often brilliant but flounders on its ambition.

BWW Review: CRIME AND PUNISHMENT, Jack Studio Theatre

Intense and focused, this adaptation of Dostoyevsky's celebrated novel ratchets up the tension without losing the material's intellectual heft.
