During the war Joe Keller and Steve Deever ran a machine shop which made airplane parts. Deever was sent to prison because the firm turned out defective parts, causing the deaths of many men. Keller went free and made a lot of money. The twin shadows of this catastrophe and the fact that the young Keller son was reported missing during the war dominate the action. The love affair of Chris Keller and Ann Deever, the bitterness of George Deever returned from the war to find his father in prison and his father’s partner free, are all set in a structure of almost unbearable power. The climax showing the reaction of a son to his guilty father is fitting conclusion to a play electrifying in its intensity. Jane Austen's enduring novel of romance, class, and society comes to stage in the popular Jon Jory (Actors' Theatre of Louisville) adaptation. Actors' Theatre of Columbus will close its 2012 summer season at the Columbus Commons with the production of Shakespeare's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. The production will run Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun for two weekends, September 13-16 and September 20-23, with performances starting at 7:30 PM. Performances are free, though donations of $5-10 are encouraged. Shadowbox Theater, in association with the Actors' Theatre, team up to present the original musical, BACK TO THE GARDEN at Schiller Park on August 1st at 7:00 PM. The Shadowbox cast will head down to the outdoor amphitheater for a one-night-only show that will serve as a fundraiser for Actors' Theatre.
