What did our critic think of BUDDY, THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY at BDT Stage?

Josh Cohen is overweight, can't get a date, and his apartment was just emptied by a burglar--but that was a year ago, and a lot has improved since then, according to a much healthier and happier-looking Josh Cohen with a guitar.

I remain awed by Swift Creek Mill's production of 'Side Show.' the 1997 musical focused on the real-life story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins born in 1908 who were exhibited as circus freaks and then became vaudeville stars.

Before Stage 1 Theatre Company opened in Mechanicsville, they put on a blockbuster convert performance of 'Ragtime' that lives on in memory.

Swift Creek Mill has had a lot of eras that could be called golden, but for me the period around 2008 was memorable. In particular, I recall loving their production that year of a?oeOnce Upon a Mattress.'

Ozark Actors Theatre is thrilled to announce the full cast and creative team for this summer's production of Mary Poppins. The production will be directed by Lee Anne Mathews, and will star Pauline Parkhurst as the practically perfect, titular nanny. Quinn Cason will take on the role of Bert, and St. Louis legend John Contini will play the role of Admiral Boom.

I think I'm addicted to immersive theatre, especially the way Denver Center's Off-Center has been bringing it. The musical Death Takes a Holiday, currently playing at the Arvada Center, doesn't just breathe a little life into Death-it makes him out to be a hopeless romantic.

The Addams Family has been playing BDT Stage in Boulder since November, but even though death is just around the corner for this show's run, it still manages to be everything but neat, sweet and petite. (Which is exactly what an homage to the classic family deserves.)

Forever Plaid, the hallmark jukebox musical comedy by Stuart Ross, centers on a quartet whose dream of recording an album ended in a bus collision while on their way to their biggest gig. Now they've been miraculously revived for the show that never was - right in the middle of Boulder! Forever Plaid plays BDT Stage March 6 - May 10, 2015.

This is' family entertainment' in the truest sense of the word and this fantastic production is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages.
