BWW Review: THE SECRETARY Shoots Off at Main Street Theater

I realize part of the fun of THE SECRETARY is it never comes down heavily on one side or the other on the gun debate, but that also means I sat there frustrated as I felt there was little point to whipping out pistols and taking on issues.

BWW Review: The A.D. Players' HARVEY Is a Gift

Planned a year ago as the opening of their 2017-18 season, no one had any inkling how ironic the title HARVEY would be. Playwright Mary Chase's merry little romp seemed like a good idea at the time. And as it turned out, it was.

Stages Repertory Theatre Presents WHO AM I THIS TIME? (& OTHER CONUNDRUMS OF LOVE)

The first in Stages Repertory Theatre's 2017 Get Talking Series that highlights important voices in contemporary theatre - Who Am I This Time (& Other Conundrums of Love) by Aaron Posner and adapted from stories by Kurt Vonnegut, makes its regional premiere in Houston on January 25 and runs through February 12. Directed by long-time Stages and Houston actor and director Sally Edmundson (Driving Miss Daisy, Auntie Mame, Amy's View), Who Am I This Time takes a good-natured look at love and the conundrums that accompany it through the interconnected stories of three couples, all set against the backdrop of North Crawford Mask & Wig Club - 'the finest community theatre in central Connecticut.' The play's New England everyman narrator and the poignant, often comic look at daily life and relationships are gently reminiscent of Thornton Wilder's classic Our Town.

BWW Review: THE REVOLUTIONISTS Serve Girl Power at Main Street Theater

The author claims it is 'mostly a comedy', and it is certainly not a musical about a barricade with people singing the songs of angry men. No, this one is the words of enraged women as they struggle to be recognized as the vehicles of liberation.

BWW Feature: THE REVOLUTIONISTS Will Not Be Televised, so Don't Miss It at Main Street

The critically-acclaimed production of THE REVOLUTIONISTS at Main Street Theater closes this weekend. BroadwayWorld creates its own clip show for the play featuring production photos, review excerpts from BWW critic Brett Cullum, and a never-before-seen interview with playwright Lauren Gunderson. BWW Review: Main Street Theater's TWELFTH NIGHT Marries Love and Humor

The actors add to the relaxed atmosphere. No one is too good to play for a laugh, which is quintessential Shakespeare. The bard includes a pickled-herring gas joke. The TWELFTH NIGHT actors ensure you laugh at it.
