Bobbi Kotula BIO

Bobbi’s Brownie troupe in Pennsylvania was asked to audition for the local Retirement Home Tour of The Little Lost Girl — she won the title role! Since that joyful commencement, she graduated with her BA in Theatre from Penn State, studied in the masters directing program at Villanova University, earned her teacher certification, and moved to the Northwest. More trees, birds, mountains, and sky, please.

Bobbi has garnered awards, reviews, and downright enthusiasm for her unique and detailed portrayals of new and classic characters. A role she originated in the original musical, Iron Curtain, at Village Theatre in Issaquah, took her Off-Broadway. The New York Times called her “Uproarious” in the role of the German Director Dominatrix, Hildret Heinz. She was glad to be mentioned in this important paper and it was lovely to spend time on the east coast with her family.

Review: HELLO, DOLLY! at Village Theatre

In the musical theater world, there are classics and then there are Classics (with the big “C”). Jerry Herman’s “Hello, Dolly!” is certainly a big “C” Classic and I’m here to fight anyone who says different. It’s a delicious throwback to the Golden Age of musicals and certainly a star vehicle for the right star. And speaking of the right star, the current production of “Dolly”, currently playing at Village Theatre, shows just how good this Classic can be with the incredible Bobbi Kotula in the title role who proves that she’s not a star, but a Star!

BWW Review: The Kochs Bring Down the Triple Door with THE CARPETERS

Washington DC may have the Koch brothers, but we have a Koch brother and sister, specifically David and Lisa Koch. Two of the funniest humans out there, they've brought their delicious satire to Seattle and abroad for years. In fact, 20 years ago their 70's pop duo parody a?oeThe Carpetersa?? were all the rage at Cabaret de Paris. Well, they've reunited that delightful original cast, and brought in some new friends, to make The Carpeters live once again in a concert of their original show, a?oeThe Carpeters: Uncomfortably Close to Youa??. And with the insane laughter and applause, the roof of the Triple Door may never be the same.

Adam Gwon And Sarah Hammond's New Musical String Receives World Premiere

Village Theatre is excited to announce the World Premiere of String, a brand-new story with a mythological twist by award-winners Sarah Hammond (book), and Adam Gwon (music & lyrics), and direction by Brandon Ivie.  A fun and fresh fable about fate, love, and the imperfections that make us human, String is an original story about three sisters - goddesses known as the Fates - who are responsible for spinning, measuring, and snipping the String of Life. After falling out of favor with Zeus, they find themselves banished to a modern skyscraper in the mortal world. But when the eldest sister falls in love, the very fabric of the universe begins to unravel. "We are thrilled to have such a sophisticated show premiering on our stage," said Ivie. "This show is very intimate, but also deals with understanding our place in the universe and what it means to be human. It's a show about Gods, but they deal with the same things we do - sisterhood, love, loss. We know our audiences are going to connect with these characters on a deep emotional level."
