Town Hall presents Broadway Rising Stars, a national showcase that introduces New York audiences to the next generation of up-and-coming talent as chosen by a panel of discerning judges from among the most outstanding new graduates from schools such as the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, CAP21, Circle in the Square Theatre School, Marymount Manhattan College, The New School, NYU's Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts, NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and other acclaimed institutions. The 2018 Rising Stars is spearheaded by Scott Siegel, creator/writer/host of Town Hall's beloved Broadway by the Year series.

Last night, June 18, stars came out to relive some of the best Broadway showtunes of 1988 and 2017 at Broadway By The Year. BroadwayWorld attended the show and we're taking you backstage in the photos below!

Maxine Linehan brought a St. Patrick's EVE pride in her Irish roots to the Feinstein's/54 Below stage with her show "One: The Songs of U2".  A veteran of numerous performances at the club, this was her 3rd incarnation of the tribute show in the venue. Directed by Scott Siegel, the evening's band consisted of Ryan Shirar (MD/Arranger/Pianist), Ben Lively (Violin), Sarah Hewitt-Roth (cello), Kate Spingarn (Cello), Corey Shutzer (Bass), Clayton Craddock (Drums), & Andrew Koss (Guitar). The evening kicked off with "Beautiful Day" followed immediately by celebrating with "New York".

BROADWAY BY THE TEAR, a dynamic evening of torch songs, produced, written, and hosted by NY's critically acclaimed impresario, Scott Siegel at Feinstein's/54 Below on July 29th, featured Garth Kravits (The Drowsy Chaperone), Meredith Inglesby (Beauty and the Beast), Farah Alvin, (Nine, Saturday Night Fever, It Shoulda Been You), Mia Gerachis, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Philippa Lynas (Australian singing star), Pepe Nufrio (54 Sings Broadway's Greatest Hits!), Jenny Lee Stern (Forbidden Broadway, Rocky: The Musical, Spamilton), Morissa Trunzo (Occasion for Sin), Remy Zaken and Rashad Naylor, with Ryan Shirar on the keys.

Town Hall's Broadway Rising Stars, the concert event that launched the careers of stars who were in the opening night casts of Hamilton, Waitress, Beautiful, The Color Purple and more returned for its 11th annual edition at The Town Hall last night, July 10th. While high belters rule Broadway today, during Broadway's Golden Age the baritone was king - which means that the great male numbers written by the likes of Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart, Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Gershwins, Sigmund Romberg, Cole Porter, and others of their iconic ilk, were largely written for baritones. But William Michals is the one Broadway star of today who is the singular baritone born for that great music.

Joe Sirola, one of the worlds most successful voice -over actors, film, TV, and stage actor, was honored in the the Metropolitan Room's famous, "This Is Your Night" series last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Managing partner Bernie Furshpan hosted the evening which had performances by Steve Ross, Shana Farr, Gregory Korostishevsky, Eric Rudy Lee Pfeiffer, Jamie deRoy, and KT Sullivan. Jon Weber served as music director.

Last night at The Town Hall, in honor of the 10th Anniversary of the Broadway Rising Stars Concert Series (which features the brightest talent selected from some of the nation's finest theatrical institutions), for the very first time, previous Rising Stars from the last nine years returned to join the show.

Drama Desk Awards Nominees Rachel Bay Jones (Pippin, Hair, Broadway's upcoming Dear Evan Hanson), Robert Creighton (Cagney, Chicago) & Farah Alvin (The Marvelous Wonderettes, Grease, Saturday Night Fever), in addition to Noah Racey (Never Gonna Dance, Curtains, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Morgan Weed (American Psycho, Rent) & Maxine Linehan just took part in Town Hall's Broadway by the Year Series last night, June 20, THE BROADWAY MUSICALS OF THE 1970s (this is the 16th year of the series).

Scott Siegel's The Greatest Pop Songs of All Time played Feinstein's/54 Below on January 9, 2016 at 7pm, showcasing, 'Songs from The Beatles to Lesley Gore and from Petula Clark to The Animals - and a whole lot a shakin' inbetween!' Peruse our photo gallery from the event below!
