As an organization at the forefront of contemporary performance, SUMMERWORKS will present a passionately curated selection of artists and creative collaborators as part of the 33rd SUMMERWORKS PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL.

The 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2018-2019 season were handed out in a star-studded celebratory ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, hosted by the multi-talented, multi-award-winning Rick Miller, well-known for his widely acclaimed one-man shows that include MacHomer, BOOM and Bigger Than Jesus (Dora Award for Outstanding Performance, 2006).

At a press conference held May 28 in the Davies Takacs Lobby of the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 282 nominations for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, which recognize excellence in professional theatre, dance and opera in Toronto. On Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, 49 Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Silver Ticket Award and the Jon Kaplan Audience Choice Award will be presented.

Award-winning dancer, choreographer, teacher, and artistic director, Terrill Maguire explores the aspects of life that transcend different religions, cultures and times in Bloodsongs, November 7, 2018 at the Aga Khan Museum. Choreographed by Maguire, what began as a response to some exquisite music of the Middle East, from both Judaic and Islamic sources, has evolved into an alternative response to the pervasive greed, conflict, intolerance, and cruelty in the world.

Kaeja d'Dance proudly presents the beloved award-winning 7th annual PORCH VIEW DANCES (PVD), a unique and family friendly on-site production that showcases real people dancing in real spaces. This year, PVD is all about inclusivity, and will have a strong focus on diversity in dance creation and performance, with individuals from all backgrounds, ages, and featuring participants with multi-abilities. The Launch of PVD 2018 sets in motion a more accessible and inclusive event for both participants and audience members, that will pave the way for Kaeja's future events. The performance runs from July 18 to July 22, 2018, in Seaton Village, part of the Annex of Toronto.

Executive Director Tammy Fox announced her inaugural season of programming at BPAC's annual season launch event Wednesday, May 16. Joining Fox to introduce the 2018/19 Season, and sample what audiences can expect, were Indigenous contemporary folk band Twin Flames, Andrew Burashko from Art of Time Ensemble, hip-hop artist and creator of the 'Unauthorized Biography Series' Shaun Boothe, and the evening's host comedian Elvira Kurt.

Peggy Baker Dance Projects is pleased to announce Map by Years, a four-work program featuring the world premiere of a new movement and text work for Peggy Baker created with the incomparable Sarah Chase, titled unmoored. It is joined on the program by the return of three landmark Baker solos, Her Heart, Krishna's Mouth and Portal. Map by Years runs at The Theatre Centre from February 21-25, 2018.
