 Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater has announced that tickets are now on sale for live simulcasts of Eduardo Machado's Celia and Fidel. For select performances from November 10 through 21, 2021, patrons can watch the livestream. 

Arena Stage’s production of Celia and Fidel, directed by Molly Smith, is a fast-paced drama set within Cuban politics during Castro’s dictatorship. 

As Fidel Castro ponders on how to move his country forward, his political partner, Celia Sánchez, is never far from his side. Imbued with magical realism, Celia and Fidel is the dynamic story of radical change in Cuba featuring the country's most notorious political figure and Cuba's most influential female revolutionary.

Miami New Drama has announced a second extension for their critically acclaimed production of 7 Deadly Sins: Temptation in the Magic City. The innovative, site-specific and socially distanced theatrical event, performed in seven vacant storefronts along Miami Beach’s historic Lincoln Road, will now play through Sunday, January 31. 

Miami New Drama has announced casting, creative team and production dates for Seven Deadly Sins: Temptation in the Magic City, an innovative, site-specific event which will be presented from November 27 through January 3 in seven vacant storefronts along Miami Beach's historic Lincoln Road. Opening night is Saturday, December 5.

Eduardo Machado's Celia and Fidel, set at the beginning of the Mariel Boatlift crisis in 1980, explores the bravado, self-delusion, frustration and paranoia that were the hallmarks of Fidel Castro's rule over Cuba. Director Molly Smith has worked her cast into a taut, suspenseful emotional pitch, with nuances galore to enjoy and contemplate.

The first four preview performances of the world-premiere Celia and Fidel have been cancelled due to the departure of actor Robert M. Jimenez. Mr. Jimenez has withdrawn from the production due to personal matters. He will be replaced by Andhy Mendez and preview performances will now begin on Tuesday, March 3. Mendez will step into the role of the Cuban leader.

God, I love Lincoln Road. And nope, I am not a tourist. Even though I have lived in Miami my whole life, I still get a thrill of walking down Lincoln Road people watching: girls in barely-there outfits with thongs exposed, men with chains heavy enough to weigh them down walking dogs who are dressed like people and people dressed like statues fully covered in sliver paint… BECAUSE MIAMI! There was a sense of anticipation and energy entering the theatre as people poured into an almost sold out show. As the seats filled, I likened the energy of people talking excitedly in their seats to the party atmosphere of Miami Beach's lifestyle. It was obvious that, like myself, the crowd was filled with people who were fans of the documentary and were thrilled to see if the play would do it justice. And that it did.

Actor, producer, director Yancey Arias had his first experience in entertainment at the age of twelve when his grandmother threw him on stage to sing a song for a  neighborhood talent show at Henry Street Settlement in downtown Manhattan. Yancey was discovered by Professor James Green at Saint John's Prep High School in Astoria, Queens, New York. Green then introduced Yancey to Stage Door Manor in Loch Sheldrake, New York, where he studied theater under Jack Romano every summer, and in winter with fellow actors Vincent Laresca, Christian J. Meoli, and Josh Charles.
