Arkansas native Amy Lee of Evanescence is among the headliners at Rocklahoma, “America’s Biggest Labor Day Party.” The yearly rock festival, which is held in Pryor, OK, announced its 2024 lineup on Tuesday, April 2, which includes top rock and metal bands like Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Evanescence (Arkansas’ Amy Lee’s band), Halestorm, Disturbed, A Day To Remember, Skillet, Lamb of God, Mastodon and many more.

It’s been a strong year for Toronto theatre. I saw 145 shows this year in Toronto and beyond, and am happy to report that theatre is alive and well. I’ve laughed, sobbed, coughed (discreetly into a mask), and cheered my way through our stages in 2023. Here are some local highlights.

Young People's Theatre's (YPT's) much-loved You and I returns to the Studio Theatre for a very special limited engagement. Created by celebrated theatre veteran Maja Ardal and directed by former YPT Artistic Director Allen MacInnis, You and I is a multi-sensory, playfully interactive adventure specially designed for “walking babies” – ages 18 months to 3 years.

What did our critic think of REDBONE COONHOUND at Tarragon Theatre? That's the hotly debated question in Amy Lee Lavoie and Omari Newton's new play at Tarragon Theatre, co-produced with Montreal's Imago Theatre. In REDBONE COONHOUND, interracial couple Mike and Marissa (Christopher Allen and Chala Hunter) find the delicate power balance that comes from living in the world with vastly different experiences can be upset by a small incident that carries the weight of history.

Evol Walks has shared their brand-new symphonic metal ballad 'Saints And Sinners' alongside Stockholm metalcore act Defueld. Rock 'n' roll queen and lead vocalist Leah Martin-Brown works in tandem with Defueld's Chris Wetterstrom to navigate the narrative of a dystopian future through melodic guitar riffs and yearning and energetic harmonies.

ITSAZOO Productions and Aphotic Theatre, in partnership with PuSh, present the hotly anticipated world premiere of The Café from October 11 – 22, 2022 at 7pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7pm & 9pm (Friday & Saturday) at Kafka's (577 Great Northern Way).

The album was curated by Adria Petty, daughter of Tom Petty, and brought both Everly families together for the first time in nearly 20 years to pioneer the Everly Brothers legacy. She worked alongside Phil Everly’s widow Patti, son Jason Everly—who provided insight into each song in the album’s liner notes and Don himself prior to his passing.
