The Seattle-based circus, comedy, and cabaret spectacle Teatro ZinZanni has arrived in Chicago with the hybrid show LOVE, CHAOS AND DINNER. New York City's best cabaret venue has found a home in Seattle. In an all-new producing partnership, Teatro ZinZanni and Joe's Pub at The Public, one of New York City's most celebrated institutions for emerging and accomplished performance artists, present a brand new late night series, 'Joe's Pub Seattle.'

Alt-cabaret star Lady Rizo (aka Amelia Zirin-Brown) made her way to the stage to join her multi-instrumental accompanist, Yair Evnine. Threading regally through the audience, she held a translucent umbrella over her head, singing (my favorite Prince song) 'The Beautiful Ones' to Evnine's cello in a beautifully powerful, dusky-toned voice. Her terrific new show, Multiplied (continuing at Joe's Pub on July 25 and 26) is a meditation on modern motherhood, specifically what it means for an artist accustomed to the nomadic freedom of a life on tour to settle into life as a new parent.

Joe's Pub at The Public presents the New York City premiere of Multiplied, the new show from Grammy Award-winning Lady Rizo, on July 19, 20, 25 and 26. The world-renowned cabaret superstar explores how fecundity and parenthood fit with the revelry of showbiz. Lady Rizo ingeniously weaves carefully chosen pop songs with her own stirring originals. The cult entertainer New York magazine hails as a 'Cabaret Superstar' has made her mark creating vintage arrangements & theatrical explorations of pop songs from every decade. Lady Rizo (nee Amelia Zirin-Brown) co-created the cult caburlesque spectacular Lady Rizo & the Assettes in 2005.In January 2010 she won her first Grammy on a duet with acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma that was released on a Holiday album featuring Diana Krall, James Taylor and Alison Krauss among others. She also sings and records with multi-platnum recording artist Moby and was nominated for an MVPA for the choreography the video for the single New York, New York featuring Debbie Harry. I had the cahncr to chat with Lady Rizo about her upcoming performance at The Copa and more. Here are a few highlights form that conversation:

The Los Angeles LGBT Center's Lily Tomlin/Jane Wagner Cultural Arts Center has announced the Renberg Theatre debut of New York's internationally acclaimed cabaret artist Lady Rizo. The one-night-only concert is on Thursday, October 30 at 8pm.

HERE announces its 2014-2015 producing season, commencing Labor Day Weekend with the premiere of the Artistic Director production, Trade Practices, by Kristin Marting & David Evans Morris; and followed by the HERE Resident Artist productions Send for the Million Men by Joseph Silvosky and Bloowst windku by Rebecca Davis. HERE's upcoming season also includes the third annual PROTOTYPE: Opera/Theatre/ Now festival and HERE's yearly CULTUREMART festival, which gives audiences a first look at new work in process from artists in the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP).
