Connecticut's theater season heats up during the summer with regular and summer series offerings. Some of the top picks I am looking forward to:

A 1930's tap dance spectacular that burst on to the New York Stage in 2010 as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Fingers & Toes opens the summer season at the Ivoryton Playhouse. A brand new work from Logan Medland, this mighty, mini musical combines snappy dialogue, catchy tunes and some of the fanciest dancing you'll see this year - high-energy tap routines that evoke the magic of the Fred Astaire - Ginger Rogers era. A deliriously delightful and genuinely funny love-letter to the old-fashioned backstage musical.

EBE Ensemble presents The Beautiful Beautiful Sea Next Door, a riff on the myth of Medusa by Annah Feinberg. Barbara has assistant directed for companies such as Clubbed Thumb, Manhattan Theatre Club, Here Arts Center, and Neighborhood Productions. She currently serves as Programming Fellow for Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and has worked in artistic programming/administration for Lark Play Development Center, Ars Nova Theater, Manhattan Theatre Club, and Disney Theatrical. When Jerry Herman was pegged by producer Gerard Oestreicher to write the score for a Broadway musical set in the fledgling State of Israel, he was a 28-year-old composer/lyricist mostly known for writing clever lyrics and snazzy tunes for Greenwich Village topical reviews like Nightcap and Parade.  But now, instead of writing for hip, downtown performers like Charles Nelson Reilly and Dody Goodman, he'd be penning a romantic score for opera stars Mimi Benzell and Robert Weede, with special comic relief material for Yiddish Theatre legend Molly Picon.

On Monday, December 14th, there will be a private reading of the new rock musical, The Intern with book and lyrics by Freddy Wexler and music by Wexler, Arthur Lafrentz Bacon, and others. The reading features vocal direction by Aaron Berk and is directed by Jamie McGonnigal.

On November 16th, Carly Jibson debuted her all-new solo show, Not a Bitch...Not Yet a Woman to an entirely sold out audience at Joe's Pub.

Bryce Ryness joins Tituss Burgess and Rebecca Naomi Jones for the industry concert reading of the new rock/r&b musical Salvage.

Hair won the 2009 Tony Award for 'Best Revival of a Musical' and the 'The Tribe' had a post Tony ceremony 'LOVE IN' at the Tavern on the Green. BroadwayWorld was there to rub elbows and 'let the sun shine in' with the cast and crew of the big Broadway hit!

Due to unforeseen circumstances with the venue, the New Jersey debut of Hedwig and the Angry Inch will have it's final performance in Asbury Park, this Saturday evening, July 7th, at 8PM
