Old School Square Announces New Holiday Tradition CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT

Old School Square, in partnership with the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA), will presentCarols by Candlelight, a new, outdoor concert experience that will become a Delray Beach holiday tradition, supporting local children's programs.

The concert will be presented on Saturday, December 3, at Old School Square Pavilion, which is located on the center grounds of the Old School Square campus at 51 N. Swinton Avenue.

The concert will help launch the holiday festivities in Delray Beach, which begin with the 100-foot Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 1. This will be a magical evening for the entire family, where all ages can come together in the spirit of the holiday season as headliners Little River Band, Stephen Bishop and Kim Carnes with songwriter/guitarist Greg Barnhill light up the Pavilion stage with songs of the season and select hits, culminating with the lighting of 2,000 candles throughout the audience.

Carols by Candlelight (http://www.carolsbycandlelight.com/) was introduced to America in 1990 by Steve Vaus and Wayne Nelson with the goal of making a life-changing difference in the lives of children. Over the years, Carols by Candlelighthas featured pop and country stars singing Christmas Carols along with their biggest hits. Thanks to Wayne and Rhonda Nelson, who call Delray Beach home when they're not traveling with the Little River Band, Carols by Candlelight is making its local debut.

Celebrating the holiday season in Carols by Candlelight at Old School Square Pavilion in Delray Beach will be:

+ Little River Band (http://www.littleriverband.com/) was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. Originally a blend of musicians who had enjoyed success in other Australian bands, they immediately claimed their place as one of the great vocal bands of the '70s and '80s. The lone American added to the lineup in 1980 was Delray Beach resident, Wayne Nelson. Now in his 37th year with the LRB, Nelson is the bass player and lead singer. Between '76 and '83, Top 40 chart success in America included these singles: It's a Long Way There, Help Is On Its Way, Happy Anniversary, Reminiscing, Lady, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy On Me, Man On Your Mind, We Two, You're Driving Me Out of My Mind, and The Other Guy.

The current lineup brings new energy and arrangements to the classic hits, making fresh memories for the audience out of each live performance. It's always fun to watch as people are swept up by the show's vitality and the volume of hits from LRB's history. You'll see plenty of people mouth the words..."I love this song"... "I forgot it was one of Little River Band's hits!" They bring their catalog and talent to Old School Square on Dec 3 for the First Annual presentation of Carols by Candlelight.

formed a band called, "The Weeds" (while still in his teens) and began to play at local fraternity parties incorporating his own original songs with various songs from top 40. The Weeds won 2nd place at the Claremont Battle of the Bands, prompting one of the judges to explain that "Stephen Bishop is going to be a big songwriter someday!" Determined to fulfill that prophesy, Bishop made the trip to Los Angeles. Through a good friend, Art Garfunkel heard some of his new songs and recorded two of them on his Gold recording, Breakaway.

He started playing around town singing his songs in person for artists like, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Diana Ross. Shortly thereafter, he was signed to ABC Records who released his first album, Careless. His two hits from that album were, Save It For a Rainy Day and On and On. Soon the album went gold, as well as his next album, Bish.
He sang the hit theme, It Might Be You, from the movie, Tootsie, as well as writing and/or singing for 13 other films. His songs have been performed by artists such as Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, Art Garfunkel, Steve Perry, Stephanie Mills, Kenny Loggins, Johnny Mathis, Phoebe Snow, David Crosby, The Four Tops, Aswad and Pavarotti. He appeared as the "Charming Guitar Player" in Animal House, wherein John Belushi slammed his guitar into smithereens in the Toga Party scene. He appeared as, "Blue London," in Henry Jaglom's, Someone to Love. Bishop also appeared in The Blues Brothers," as a State Trooper. This last June, he performed at the Library of Congress. In September, he performed at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York for an event for the U.N.
Stephen was nominated for two Grammy's and awarded an Oscar nomination for his song, Separate Lives. His newest album entitled, Be Here Then is to be released in January 2014. In Eric Clapton's autobiography, he mentions Stephen as one of his favorite songwriters.

+ Kim Carnes and Greg Barnhill are both extraordinary musicians. Since her songwriting and recording debut, superstar writer-performer Kim Carnes(http://kimcarnes.com/) has been an extraordinarily distinctive and in-demand voice in popular music, both figuratively and literally. Take 2014 alone, during which she participated in a BBC songwriter special hosted by esteemed British broadcaster Bob Harris, contributed duet vocals to an album of songs written by acclaimed tunesmith Frankie Miller, co-wrote songs for a pair of albums by Americana singer-songwriter Dana Cooper and covered the Rolling Stones' Under My Thumb for a Brazilian recording project.

While she first came to the attention of many through her 1981 history-making rendition of the Jackie DeShannon-Donna Weiss-penned Bette Davis Eyes - Billboard's No. 1 hit of that year and still one of the Hot 100's biggest chart hits of all time - the Grammy-winning tune is just another remarkable facet of a global recording, performing and songwriting career that has now spanned five decades. There's also the plethora of songs she has written for herself and others. Marked by Carnes' innate ability to fuse heart-piercing lyrics to indelible melodies, her songs have distinguished the artist's own platinum-selling albums as well as those of her many peers. And then there is that unmistakable voice. Like a mysterious beehive, it buzzes and rasps, crackling with kinetic energy, the treasure of sweet, natural honey stored within, just waiting to be savored. Originally from New Orleans, Greg Barnhill (http://www.gregbarnhill.com/) has been writing and performing his entire life. Artists from Etta James, Martina McBride, and Jessica Simpson to Chicago, Tim McGRaw, Lee Ann Womack, Leona Lewis and many in between have embraced his songs. Walkaway Joe, recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley, was a significant milestone to his career. The song went on to earn him a Grammy nomination as well as the respect of his peers that follows him to this day. Barnhill also had a crossover smash with House of Love for Amy Grant and Vince Gill. Other hit songs include Same Ol Love, 99.9% Sure I've Never Been Here Before, She's Taken' A Shine and Never Been Kissed.

While Barnhill's chart successes are impressive, he has also recorded, written, and produced a number of TV themes and jingles. In 2007, he earned an Emmy nomination for his hit It's A New Day for the Today Show. In April of 2009, he co-wrote and co-produced the new theme song for CBS The Early Morning Show, A Lot Happens Early. Later in 2009, Barnhill was nominated for his second Emmy for the NASCAR theme Be There. In 2010, he was nominated for his third Emmy and won for Best Original Song for the Today Show theme, Your Day Is Today. Greg is one of Nashville's first call master vocalists.
