Bartók Divertimento for String Orchestra

Music from three centuries and four countries—all in one evening… from Haydn’s “Hen” Symphony with its merry “clucking” to Bartók’s Divertimento for Strings, a spicy combination of Hungarian flavours, folk tunes, and peasant dances, starring our orchestra’s string section. In between, Polish composer Witold Lutos?awski’s sonorous homage to Bartók. And in her NAC Orchestra debut, trumpet virtuosa Tine Thing Helseth (“Norway’s first lady of the trumpet” ~ The Telegraph) creates sunshine with Hummel’s Concerto.
