Superstar pianist Emanuel Ax joins the NAC Orchestra for two youthful works. First is one of Mozart’s early masterpieces—a dramatic, emotionally rich concerto with a cornucopia of beautiful themes plus a lively finale. Then it’s Strauss’s Burleske, a piano showpiece demanding incredible technical feats from the soloist. And Maestro Zukerman also conducts Malcolm Forsyth’s final composition—a moving choral tribute to our homeland and “a testament to a family’s love for music and for each other.” (Edmonton Journal)
