An incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. And a dead man-with a lot of loose ends. So begins Dead Man's Cell Phone, a wildly imaginative new comedy by Sarah Ruhl, author of The Clean House and Eurydice. A work about how we memorialize the dead-and how that remembering changes us-it is the odyssey of a woman forced to confront her own assumptions about... morality, redemption, and the need to connect in a technologically obsessed world. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French.

This dramatic comedy calls for four women and two men -- one woman in her 50s/60s, the rest in their 30s/40s. Auditions will be held August 28/29 (Sunday/Monday) at 7:00pm in the Lobby of Surfside Playhouse. Directed by TRoy Jones.

Surfside's revived Second Stage program presents non-mainstream theatre on weekends between the runs of our Main Stage shows. Scenery and costumes are minimized, with all the spotlight on the actors. Rehearsals will usually be at a location outside of The Playhouse (discussed among the cast). The production will set up on stage on Thursday, October 6, with ONE WEEKEND of performances October 7 - 9.

To get to Surfside from the mainland, take 520 or 528 to A1A South, or take Pineda or US-192 to A1A North. Drive into Cocoa Beach, and turn west on Fifth Street South.
