Mad Cow Theatre announces A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, playing June 3 through July 10, 2011 in it's intimate Stage Left, continuing their 80th Birthday tribute to the great Stephen Sondheim.
Winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, book by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, is Broadway's greatest farce and one of the funniest musicals ever written. Forum seamlessly combines situations from the timeless comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the fast-paced, slapstick energy of classic vaudeville to create a non-stop entertainment extravaganza. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.Katrina Ploof (She Stoops to Conquer, The Laramie Project, Candida) will direct A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
